It is said that “family knows best,” and for the love story of Angela and Nelson this couldn’t be more true. Perhaps it was intuition, or even guidance by a higher power, either way Nelson’s father knew he had to introduce Angela, his co-worker, to his son. That introduction would not only change the lives of Angela and Nelson, beginning them on a path to becoming husband and wife, but also gained Nelson’s father a daughter as two families became one in a beautiful ceremony on July 8th.

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal: We were introduced by his Father, who works with me. He proposed while we were home watching television. He went down on his knees, and pulled out the ring, and asked!
What was wedding shopping like for you? It was quite easy and fun. I went to large bridal salon in NYC accompanied by “tribe.” I tried on 3 dresses, and thought I loved the second dress I tried on. They were all very non-traditional gowns. After the third dress, my people said to indulge them and try on a traditional gown. They brought out the Anne Barge dress and as soon as I put it on I knew it was going to be my dress – fun and bold!
Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding? I am Ghanaian and he is Haitian, so we had a lot of African and Haitian music.
Favorite item on the menu: The wedding cake! Absolutely delicious.
First dance song: “One and Only” by Adele.
What is your best memory from your wedding? The whole thing! It was just as we imagined it would be. A fun and exciting party with our closest family and friends. We had so much fun!
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? Have the wedding you want, and no need to stress about the little details, because they really won’t matter. Have fun, because it’s the most expensive party you will ever throw!
