They say distance makes the heart grow fonder. Well that was certainly the case for the lovebirds we’re featuring today. Gboluma served in Okinawa, Japan for a year so part of the couple’s relationship was long distance. But the moment Gboluma returned, he planned to propose to the love of his life. During a helicopter tour of Blue Ridge Mountains, he popped the question, and Danielle eagerly agreed. Their fun engagement session is symbolic of their long distance relationship and Gboluma’s service. These photos by Fola show how much fun this couple is. Vibrant, crisp and engaging, the photographer captured the pair gorgeously around the midtown area of Atlanta. Thanks so much for sharing your engagement photos with us and best wishes for your wedding this weekend!
Couple: Dnaielle and Gboluma

Describe your engagement session. Did you have a theme?
Since Gboluma served in Japan and part of our relationship was long distance we wanted to incorporate that into our shoot. We decided to shoot the first part of the session at the Japanese Garden at the Carter center. Gboluma also wore his service uniform. It was romantic and symbolic of our relationship. For our second look we opted for a more casual fun look and took pictures around the hip midtown Atlanta area. We had an amazing time during the shoot!
What did you do on your first date?
Our first date was dinner and a movie at Phipps Plaza, where Danielle found out for the first time, that Gboluma could not stay up for an entire movie. Hence, Gboluma negotiated his second date because he felt asleep on the movie.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
Our favorite thing to do happens on Sundays where Gboluma plays soccer and I, Danielle go to watch and enjoy the game. We both have a love for Soccer.
