Hindu and Catholic Wedding in Texas by Nicole Ryan Photography: Natasha + John

Today's Real Wedding really is a tale of two wedding ceremonies in Texas, full of color, elegance and unique touches of heritage!  Natasha and John celebrated their union with the perfect blend of Hindu and Catholic traditions. This bi-cultural fete was absolutely beautiful: from the bride’s deep rich ruby attire to the bold, bright shades of color in the decor.

Their gorgeous wedding was photographed by Nicole Ryan Photography.  Take a look at how the couple incorporated their own personal style and details into both ceremonies creating their perfect day!  There's also more pretty in the full gallery here.

Bride: Natasha Moonka
Groom:  John Russ
Date of Wedding: 3/03/2013
Wedding Location: The Winfield Inn, Kyle, TX

From the bride:
"In the 5 years we have known each other; my fiance and I’s relationship has spanned more than 13 cities, 5 countries and 3 continents. Therefore, it only made sense that when it came time for our wedding, we would combine all these influences. We chose to have our wedding in our adopted town of Austin, Texas (John is from Akron, Ohio and I’m from Albuquerque, New Mexico). We wanted to honor both of our cultures by holding 2 different traditional ceremonies (one Catholic and one Hindu). We were able to use one space, the Winfield Inn, to hold both ceremonies and our full reception. We started with a traditional Hindu ceremony and after a quick costume change (with some French macarons and lemonade for the guests) we were able to conclude with a Catholic ceremony. Blackbird Floral was exceptional in bringing our vision of bold, bright color to life in order to tie together the deep rich colors of an Indian wedding with the bright spring feel of our Catholic ceremony. We spent the rest of the day and night celebrating the various world experiences John and I have shared together and the ones we have yet to come. We tied the rest of the event together with special touches from various parts of the world. John’s ring has the coordinates of the Irish pub where we first kissed in Spain engraved on it. The tables were set with place cards highlighting 13 different adventures we’ve had all over the world. We also made sure to include travel down to our sangria and Manhattan cocktails! Our guests got to experience a bit of our love for travel and it’s clear that John and I will only continue to grow our love for each other."

    Gorgeous. Great colors!

  3. Question

Would love the name of the Catholic priest or church that married you! I’m looking to have a Hindu/Catholic wedding next October in Austin and can’t find a priest who will do the ceremony. Thank you! Also – your wedding was beautiful!
