India and Domonique met during the vivacious crazy time that is Mardi Gras. A little shimmer, a little shake, and some exposure is a guarantee that you’ll get some beads in this New Orleans Festival – but India was definitely not doing that, and might just have impressed Dom as a result. More in-depth details follow….
The Bride: India Walker

The Meeting … “We met in February 2009 at Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Louisiana. I was with my girlfriends on vacation, and spotted Dom walking with his friends. I ran into him on Bourbon Street, and asked him if I could have some beads (without showing anything, of course) and he was nice enough to give me beads without trying to harass me for not being like the typical girls that were there for Mardi Gras. We chatted for a few minutes after he gave me the beads, and he asked for my phone number. We talked and texted my entire trip back home. We evolved and grew to love each other from there.”
The Proposal …. “Dom proposed to me in March 2010, while we were on a cruise vacation going to Jamaica. As we were going to bed the first night of the cruise, he hid the ring under one of the towel animals that the staff put on the bed. I saw a blue Tiffany box with a white bow and almost died! I was so surprised! I turned around to look at him due to the fact that I was so shocked, and there I saw him; on one knee, asking me to marry him. That day was by far one of the most amazing days of my life.”
The Theme …. “We have always been against the “cookie-cutter” engagement photos that we always see. We think the engagement photos are a time for couples to photograph in ways that describe them. Dom and I didn’t meet in a traditional environment, there isn’t really anything traditional about us, and we didn’t want anything about the most exciting time of our lives to be traditional either. We really aspired to be “different.” When we spoke with our photographer, Amy Aragon, we explained to her things that we both liked individually and as a couple. We stressed to her that we didn’t want to hold hands in the park, nor did we want to be sitting at a lake pier. We like edgy and contemporary things; and a high-end, vibrant hotel was the perfect fit for us. Amy took our vision and took it to the next level , which made our pictures come out even better. A contemporary edge is what we wanted, and it was thematic in our pictures.”
