Jody and Brett’s Vibrant and Luxurious Wedding in the Bahamas

The Christmas season is a special time of year. A time of hope, of generosity, family, and appreciation. For Jody and Brett, Christmas of 2012 would give them both the greatest gift of all - each other. Their wedding represents the coming together of two prominent Bahamian families, in a ceremony and reception that attended to every detail. The vibrant red, pink, and purple tonal hues color-theme was the perfect palette to compliment the tropical atmosphere of Nassau.

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal: The first time we ever met was in December 2011 at a Christmas party, but we hardly said two words to each other or had any interaction. It was a year later when we were introduced to each other again by a mutual friend at another Christmas party that our relationship started. We went on our first date on 18th January, 2013 and after that date couldn't get enough of each other.
Keeping up with the tradition of making things happen during the Christmas season, Brett proposed to me on Boxing Day 2015. Under the ruse that we were going to a dinner, Brett asked me to stop in the living room to take a look at something his mom had bought as we were about to leave his house for the restaurant. I fell for it and walked ahead without a suspicion of what was about to happen. Turning around to ask Brett what he was talking about, there was Brett on one knee, ring in hand. Brett asked me to spend the rest of his life with him and of course I said "YES!" We celebrated our engagement immediately after with our family and then partied the night away with all of our friends.

What was wedding shopping like for you? Dress shopping went very well. I already had in mind what I wanted for my two looks. So my first and only stop was Chic Parisien in Miami. I described to them what I wanted and they made my vision a reality; ball gown style for the ceremony and trumpet style for the reception.

Bridesmaids/Groomsmen gifts: Bridesmaids - Personalized robes and hangers and pair of earrings, Groomsmen - Bowties and cufflinks.
Favorite item on the menu: Rack of lamb
First dance song: Lauryn Hill - "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You"

What is your best memory from your wedding? My best memory was when Brett and I first saw each other in the church. The love, emotion and excitement in our eyes was evident. It was so amazing that we were about to solidify our love before God and our family and friends.

What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? The best wedding advice I would give is to ensure that the couple plans the wedding they both want to have. Don't allow your family and friends to impose their own thoughts and ideas on your wedding. It's your day so make sure it is the best day of your lives.
