Erika and Tracy didn’t let the rain stop their engagement session along Tennessee River Place and inside the Terminal Brewhouse. Tracy, a Freight Broker, is not a big fan of being in front of the camera but he was a trooper as he led his bride-to-be Erika, an Elementary Teacher, along the tracks. As they lay down the tracks for the train that will depart on their big day, July 16, 2016 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Tell us about how you met and all about the proposal!
We met while in college. He was a party promoter so I’d seen him a few times but I knew he was in a serious relationship recently. I began messaging him online and got bold enough to ask if he was still involved. When he told me he was single, I was relieved! We ran into each other later at a party where he told me the silliest jokes and made me laugh all night. He’s kept me laughing ever since.
We knew we wanted to get married for a while and had been discussing it. I was dropping major hints all summer but by Fall I had let up a little! As a teacher and grad student August and September are super busy and stressful. He arranged a couple’s massage for us after one of my Saturday classes. It was amazing! Afterwards, I was looking for the smaller ring he had bought me and was freaking out because I couldn’t find it. I told him I couldn’t find my ring and was wondering why he wasn’t helping! I turned around and saw him down on one knee and he answered, “That’s not your ring, this is!”
The engagement session…
The only theme I really wanted to incorporate was Fall which is my favorite season, but the rainy weather tried to deter that. We loved the architecture of Tennessee River Place but it was too small for our wedding so we snatched up the opportunity to shoot there. We chose Terminal Brewhouse because of my love for food and his love of beer, brewed in house!
What did you do on your first date?
On our first date, we went to Chilis. We talked about everything including our future and even kids. He also talked me into trying an amaretto sour which is now one of my favorite drinks.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
We love going out to eat, especially our “Pizza Fridays.” In the summer, we love hiking and Chattanooga has great places for that. We also enjoy hanging out at home and catching up on TV and movies.
How has wedding planning been so far?
It’s been pretty fun! I have a wedding planner who is a huge help and originally I didn’t plan on using one. My mother and future mother in law suggested it. Other than that, I have a big planning binder and I’m all over the internet for inspiration. I have my dress so I feel like that is a major check on the to-do list!
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day.
I’m looking forward to seeing his face when I come down the aisle. I am also looking forward to having so many friends and family together celebrating our love!

Oh my! It is so awesome to know 20 plus years ago, I was holding you in my arms twisting those beautiful thick curls and kissing those fat cheeks and that soon I would be seeing my handsome nephew walking something so beautiful down the aisle. I am so proud of you. Remember sweetheart the devil don’t want this covenant to happen so I beg of you to put on that whole armor of God daily. Defeat him. You tell that devil he has no say in your marriage. Pray often. Love you. Congratulations
