Luxury {Nigerian} Wedding in {Philadelphia} with a Hot Pink Color Scheme: Lyndah + Chris
In the dead and cold of winter, Lyndah and Chris would receive a special winter gift: they would be warmed up from the inside and that warmth would lead to a truly irreplaceable glow. That gift was love! The loving couple tied the knot a few months ago and will be keeping each other warm every winter for the rest of their lives. Their wedding was impeccably photographed by Diamond Street Photography. This stylish couple is also featured on our partner site Ebony.com.

The Meeting ….. “We met in the winter of 2009 through our mutual friend. It’s kind of weird; we could have actually met before then: earlier in the year, Lyndah had received a new work assignment in New Jersey and finally moved in the month of March, and the same month, Chris started attending her home church. We have no doubt in our minds that would have been the starting point for us, but even though we missed it once, the Lord still realigned our footsteps. Who knows? We probably wouldn’t have taken each other seriously then with the move and then long distance. Ultimately, we believe God wanted this to happen the way it did and that’s exactly what happened.”
The Proposal ….. “My sweetheart is sooooo traditional: he had initially asked my mom for my hand in marriage before I knew of anything. I’m pretty good at snooping but they kept this well away from me :) On Sept 18th, 2011, we arrived in London to attend the London Fashion Week Designers’ Party which was to take place the next day. Since we had an earlier flight, we decided to do some sightseeing and ended up in a London Eye capsule. Right at the very top of the sky, he proposed and popped the question; of course, I said, “Yes!” Actually, my exact words were “YAH HAN!” Lol.”
The Engagement Session ….. “I actually had a fever over 100 degrees. I was tired and burning up but was not backing down; my photographer did a good job of not letting it show. Our e-shoot was titled “The Journey” and that’s exactly what it has been to get where we are today. We just tried to capture the essence of our relationship. Even though I love the glitz and glams of life, it really isn’t about all that: it is just simply about us and how far we have come - everyday trials, challenges, joy, peace and everything that comes when you are no longer one but two. So, using the airplane as a prop signifies our strength to continue on our journey together.”
The wedding was ….. “DRAMA free! Lol. I was worried about that, because you get that with all my family and friends in one location; but love triumphed all, and we had a BLAST. The pictures speak for itself :)”
On Incorporating Culture ….. “Hubby and I are both proud Nigerians and wanted that to reflect in our traditional ethnic fusion nuptials. We incorporated our native attires in the wedding and had our friends in the “ashoebi” fabric. “Ashoebi” simply means that when a lady is getting married, her friends wear only a certain fabric that she has chosen. This is called an “ashoebi”. You can design this fabric in any style you choose; once you are spotted in this ashoebi, it is recognised by people at the wedding ceremony that you are a friend of the bride or even a member of either the bride or groom’s family. Also we had the money dance: guests make it raiiiiiiiiin by showering the couple with money during the traditional dance. This simply means that you are ushering them into their new life together with wealth.”

Loving this photo!

The Most Unforgettable Moment ….. “My hubby’s speech! It was great hearing him for the first time address me as “his wife” <giggles> amongst other things.”
{You Make Loving You So Easy}
He loves ….. “I love her vibrant personality: there’s never a dull moment with her and she lights up my day every time. When we first met, I knew immediately she was the one.”
She loves ….. “I love that he clowns in front of me all the time. We could stay home the whole weekend and have him entertain me like I was in the theater watching a collection of funny movies. I love his strength when I am down and know with him, everything will be okay. Most especially, I love that he is all macho to the world but my puppy in my arms, and i love him more everyday.”
