On the Pier Five Year Anniversary Shoot

High school sweethearts, Britney and Pierre who said, “I do” in Daytona Beach, Florida decided to go all out to celebrate their fifth anniversary. Pierre says he always knew Britney was the one and the happy couple both say the the most important elements to a successful marriage are communication, humor, spontaneity, trust, and loyalty. To celebrate five plus years of healthy conversation, laughs, fun, and faith, the lovely couple took to the park for a dreamy anniversary photo shoot. Fitting, as the symbol for the fifth year of marriage is wood. The two glowed on the pier as they took a walk down memory lane and popped champagne to commemorate this beautiful triumph.

How did you meet?

We met in middle school believe it or not! We were a couple of immature eleven year olds who only cared about hanging with friends during lunchtime. Pierre often teased me to be considered cool in front of his friends! We all know how that is! Attending different high schools, we were reunited during our senior year in high school and we’ve been together ever since! So technically, we are high school sweethearts! Prom, graduation, the whole nine.

Tell us about the proposal.

It’s definitely not your typical proposal! We were a bunch of college students with shallow pockets but we knew we were going to be together forever. With that, I was anxious to begin wedding planning – even before the ring! As we walked through our top venue choice, he dropped to one knee as our families looked on from indoors. He asked me to be his wife, and of course I said, “Yes!

How did you know he was the one?

When we went off to college, our relationship was long distance for a few years. We toughed out some of the hardest situations and also experienced some amazing times together! Seeing how dedicated he was to me during a time where most want to explore the world, I knew he was made just for me! Pierre is a gentleman who has supported me since day one! He is forever pushing me even when I stop pushing myself. We make a perfect team and I am extremely blessed.

On celebrating with an anniversary shoot: Tell us why you wanted to do this shoot. Where was the shoot? How did you decide on your location and photographer/vendors?

We already said when we got married we would celebrate milestones with shoots and parties! This year, we wanted to capture five years of marriage as memories to share with our growing family! Iris Mannings has an eye that truly captures those special things a couple shares, and I couldn’t think of any other photographer to photograph such an amazing time in our lives!

The shoot took place in Occoquan, Virginia. A photographer myself, I knew the rustic feel of the park would be awesome scenery against our regal attire… and knew Iris’ creativity would shine too! The experience was superb and she went above and beyond!

When it comes to career, what do both of you do and how do you make time for each other?

Pierre works in communications and public relations for the government and I run a photography and design studio! It’s really not about making time, it’s about knowing what’s important! While we both are career focused, we have priorities when it comes to our family unit. We have a busy 2-year-old who reminds us every day what really matters.
