We love it when a groom is just as involved in the wedding planning process as the bride. When Andre proposed to Naima, he already had a wedding planner in mind. According to Naima, “Andre attended a wedding a few months prior to the proposal, and met our wedding planner Jade Lee of Jade Lee Events. Unbeknownst to me Andre had already informed Jade of his pending proposal, and that he was so impressed with her work he wanted to work with her for his wedding.” During the wedding planning process, Naima had to commute back and forth from Charlotte to Atlanta, so it was a major relief to be able to leave decisions up to Jade and Andre.
To capture their theme of “Old Hollywood Glamour” the couple decided to have their wedding at the luxurious Ritz-Carlton hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. The color palate of platinum and blush was intricately integrated into their gorgeous décor. Their reception tables, which were adorned with beautiful phalaenopsis orchids and candles, were breathtaking. All of the décor was exquisite, but it could not overpower the captivating allure of the bride. Lauren was a star. She exemplified “Old Hollywood Glamour” in her form fitting Vera Wang gown, and vintage side swept hairstyle. While every moment of their wedding was spectacular and meaningful, Naima recalls, “The most memorable moment of our day was walking into our reception as Mr. and Mrs. Andre Greenwood. It was such an overwhelming feeling seeing all our family and friends in one place to share in our love.” The infectious charm of this superstar couple was impeccably photographed by Tracey Brown Photography.
Description of Event
Andre and I along with our parents started planning immediately after the proposal. We quickly realized this would be a pretty large wedding, as we both have a lot of family and friends domestically/internationally. Andre attended a wedding a few month prior to the proposal, and met our wedding planner Jade Lee of Jade Lee Events. Unbeknownst to me Andre had already informed Jade of his pending proposal, and that he was so impressed with her work and wanted to work with her for his wedding. We began working on establishing our budget, style, and head count for our nuptials prior to meeting with Jade. Our biggest challenge was that I had been living and working in Charlotte during the planning process, and would come to Atlanta on the weekends to visit venues and attend scheduled appointments. So every weekend meeting was critical due to my availability. I was fortunate to have a very involved groom, Andre has impeccable taste so I trusted the decisions he made in my absence.
Our planner suggested the Ritz Carlton, Atlanta(Downtown) after meeting with us and understanding our taste and vision. Our theme was reminiscent of Old Hollywood glamour and the elegance of the Ritz-Carlton captured the very essence of that. Our colors were platinum and blush, and coincidentally those were the same colors of the Ritz-Carlton ballroom. The highlight of our decor was a beautiful estate table scape that Jade created for us, the table was adorned with beautiful phalaenopsis orchids and candles. Our planner helped us fine tune our vision, and was instrumental in making everything cohesive. Our wedding surpassed our greatest expectations and the best part was sharing our love with our family and closest friends.
Wedding Style
Our wedding was reminiscent of Old Hollywood glamour, we strived to achieve this with my Vera Wang mermaid gown, side swept curls, and bling jewels. Andre and I got engaged Labor Day weekend, and I began dress shopping in December while both mothers were in town to celebrate Andre’s graduate school graduation festivities. I started studying designers, and identified what I wanted right away. I would recommend this to any brides, as the bridal salons can be a very overwhelming experience. I found it so much easier walking in and selecting the designer/styles I was interested in. I would also advise not looking at gowns outside of your initial budget, I made that mistake and spent a lot more than I initially budgeted for a gown. Although, I don’t have any regrets, because I fell head over heels in love with my Vera Wang ” Ethel” gown. I actually found my gown o n accident while shopping for bridesmaid dresses. The bridal boutique was next door to Bella Bridesmaid, and I went to the wrong door and ended up at Joan Pillow bridal. As soon as I laid eyes on my gown, I knew it was the one and I had to have it. Both our moms lived out-of-state, and I needed to make a decision by the weekend as there was a Vera Wang trunk show where I would receive a deep discount along with a free veil. I returned the next day with my fashionista friend Sarita, and she helped me make the final decision on the gown.
Most Memorable Moment
I remember taking in every little detail of day, not wanting to waste a moment. However, the most memorable moment of our day was walking into our reception as Mr. and Mrs. Andre Greenwood. It was such an overwhelming feeling seeing all our family and friends in one place to share in our love. I reminisce about that moment whenever I think back to our wedding day.
You Make Loving You So Easy
