Engagement Announcement: Two Love Birds
We both attended the same HBCU together (Bethune-Cookman University) and had a mutual friend who insisted we met. After speaking on the phone briefly we didn’t really take each other seriously. While Retesha sat in a classroom waiting for class to start Kene walked by and she called his name. This would be the first time they officially met. They hit it off instantly and fell in love.

Engagement Announcement: Abundantly Blessed!!!
Our story is unique, yet it has a dream-filled ending!! Derek lives in Brooklyn, NY and I live in San Diego, Ca. We met online at Blackpeoplemeet.com in January of 2009 on a dating website, and after meeting, we remained friends for a year by talking on the phone and taking advantage of the web cam. Around January of 2010 that friendship grew into something more. On March 14th, 2010 Derek asked if I would be his girlfriend, I said yes!! We then decided to take that next step to meeting each other and on May 28th of 2010 Derek flew me to New York for 5 days (this was one of the “craziest” things i had ever did, and I am so glad I listened with my heart) and from that moment on our relationship just kept growing. Thank You God!!!
DISTANCE MEANS SO LITTLE WHEN SOMEONE MEANS SO MUCH!!

Young Love Awaits…
We met on Facebook! As crazy as it sounds Michael found me on the wonderful site while trying to reconnect with a mutual friend. He saw my profile and wanted to know a little more about me. After about two weeks of texting and phone calls we went out on our first date and were instantly in love. I fell ill within a couple of weeks after our first date and was hospitalized and Michael was attending The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and offered to drive and miss three classes just to know that I was okay. I knew then that he was a truly loving and devoted friend and would be the perfect husband.

LaTravia + Kerron = PVAMU Love
…when girl meets boy…
It all began, spring 2009 at Prairie View A&M University in Dr. McNeil’s, Business Statistics class. As I (LaTravia) sat in class talking with my good friend Morgan, in walks Kerron. I’d always found him attractive, but never did I muster the courage to make conversation. After about 2-3 class lectures and our girl talk conversations about him, Morgan helped to make the connection that blossomed into unconditional love.
Upon Kerron’s spring 2010 graduation, he relocated to Virginia after accepting a career opportunity. We spent this time in a long distance relationship – Sometimes arguing over absolutely nothing, but realizing it was just our frustrations of longing to be together. As time drew closer to my fall 2010 graduation, we talked more and more about my relocating to Virginia. With much prayer and faith on December 19, 2010 (the day after graduation) we took the longest road trip together to Virginia to begin our lives, together. -
Engagement Announcement: A Legal Love Affair!
Joshua and I met in the basement of our law school building. The basement was a popular study area and many of us law students spend sleepless hours there relying religiously on caffeine and take-out food. Joshua and I would share stolen glances for months. Finally, I received the sweetest email from him inviting me out. I initially had cold feet due to a series of failed relationships and ending up broken hearted. At the last minute, I cancelled the date. However, he held no grudges and we began a comfortable friendship, texting and chatting from time to time.
One late night I fell ill. Being new to the area (I had moved there for law school), I had no one to turn to. Against my better judgment I sent a desperate message to Josh seeking a shoulder to lean on. He immediately asked for my address, showed up at my apartment door and drove me around town (at midnight!) to find an open pharmacy. After a few failed attempts he found one still open in the wee hours of the night and ran in to find something to make me feel better. He dropped me off afterwards and was the perfect gentleman, checking on me over the next few days to ensure I was ok.
I was instantly enamored with this man who sacrificed his night of studying to drive me around town. He never asked to come in and after the incident would simply wave at me around school. He was never aggressive or pushy and maintained a respectful distance from me. I thought of him often and finally decided that if I truly found my fairy-tale knight in shining armour, I wanted to get him first and keep him forever! Chivalry is not dead ladies! Since then we have been inseperable and I am madly in love!
