Real {Atlanta} Wedding with Purple, Champagne, and Mocha Color Scheme: Candace + Jason

One night, after a good time of socializing, Candace was just about ready to go home. So, she decided to make one last stop at a friend’s table before heading out the door. That last stop would eventually be her last stop on her journey of love: love had found her and his name was Jason. :) This beautiful couple’s very special day was photographed by Tracey Brown of Tracey Brown Photography.

Bride: Candace Johnson
Groom: Jason Frazier
Wedding Date: 05.12.2012
Location: Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta, GA

How They Met ….. “Jason and I met at a mid-week professional relaxation social on April 14, 2010. The evening was full of fellowship, socializing, and me, selling tickets for the Annual Marietta-Roswell Alumnae Chapter of DST Spring Party. Several hours into the event, I had had enough and was ready to go home. Before I left, I stopped to let one of my sorors know that I was about to head home. She was, at the time, talking to Jason at the bar and introduced us. My first thought was that Jason seemed to be a nice guy. (According to Jason, while we were talking, I held onto his arm the entire time; I don’t remember this part of the story.) I asked Jason if he had purchased his ticket for our party. His next line was, “Here’s what I’ll do. I’ll buy a ticket, if you let me take you to dinner.” My goal was to sell, sell, sell; so, I agreed. We met that following Saturday at PF Chang’s in Cumberland Mall. We’ve been together ever since.”

The Proposal ….. “Jason proposed on April 14, 2011 [exactly one year after meeting]. Prior to his proposal, we had been through a traumatic week: my mother had been involved in a head-on collision, which required surgery. Jason was there every step of the way, supporting my family and me through this difficult time. Once my Mom was stable, Jason stopped by the hospital and asked my parents’ permission to marry me, but asked them not to tell me about their conversation.

Then, he made plans for us to have dinner at Strip. I dressed for dinner at Jason’s place. When I came downstairs, there was a photographer there we had met the weekend before our anniversary. Jason explained he had asked him to take pictures and make a video to commemorate the evening. He asked me to tell the photographer my version of how we met and what the past year meant to me. The photographer took pictures of us as we walked and while we were eating. Before leaving the house, Jason gave me a card and asked me to open it after dinner. At dinner, I noticed that Jason barely touched his food, which was different because he usually finishes his food first. He was acting very nervous and even knocked things over on the table. After dinner was over, he asked me to read my card. He wanted me to read the right side of the card first then the left. After reading the left side, I looked up to see Jason down on one knee and the rest is history. I said, “YES!!!”, but it wasn’t over – Jason had another surprise for me! He led me downstairs to the bar, where I noticed some of my girlfriends sitting at the bar and I started screaming. I thought they knew Jason had asked me to marry him. Then, Jason whispered in my ear, “They don’t know.” At that moment, I lifted up my left hand to show them my engagement ring and we all started screaming again. I thought for sure we were all going to be thrown out of Strip with all the screaming.”

Planning the Wedding ….. “Jason and I planned our wedding over the period of a year. Choosing our colors was not difficult. Since Jason is a member of Omega Psi Phi and my favorite color is purple, we knew purple would definitely be a part of our color scheme. Our accent colors were champagne and mocha. We chose local vendors recommended by word of mouth.”
