Dwight Roache was the "new guy". He nervously arrived at the place that he hoped would, one day, be his place of work; he wanted to make the perfect first impression! Little did he know that he would make a good first impression on someone else - someone far more important than his would-be interviewers. She was D'Ann, the woman that he would love and who would become his wife. Maybe if Dwight knew that, he would've been a lot more nervous. Thank God for giving us glimpses of our futures in small doses that we can handle. The lovely couple was photographed by Kristyn of Kristyn Hogan Photography.
First Impressions ..... "When Dwight and I met, I worked in the Institutional Advancement for Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. He walked into the office I shared with a few other co-workers. I could tell he was nervous but confident and wanted to make a good impression with the interviewers that day. I often tell Dwight that maybe that day was God giving us a glimpse of our future. Needless to say, Dwight was hired by the President’s Office and became well received all over campus. We were cordial to one another and had a surface friendship, but I always had a high regard for Dwight. We would see each other in passing and often shared anecdotes about working at Meharry. We lost touch for a while but became reacquainted when Dwight began to visit me rather frequently in my office. His visits were well received and would always put a smile on my face."
Wedding Themes & Details ..... "The inspiration of our wedding was the meshing of cultures and infusion of elements of the season. Much of the music and cuisine was inspired by Dwight's culture, as he is Jamaican-American. The colors and decor of the wedding were inspired by spring/summer elements. We used A Delightful Day as our wedding planners and they were absolutely wonderful. We were married by D'Ann's childhood pastor at 15th Avenue Baptist Church in Nashville, TN. The music was provided by Rodney Boyden and Aaron Powell, Jr., Dwight's fraternity brother. We received a considerable amount of assistance from family and friends, particularly D'Ann's mother, Marie Redd. Overall, our wedding was a modern/traditional wedding, with much involvement from family, which allowed for the perfect uniting of our families."
The Perfect Dance on their Wedding Day ..... "Our first dance was our favorite part of the wedding day. We danced to Babyface's "Everytime I Close My Eyes" and Bob Marleys' "Is This Love". Both of our family and friends enjoyed this moment, as they danced and sang along excitedly. This opening to the reception set the tone for the remainder of the night."
Thanks so much to D'Ann and Dwight for sharing their beautiful love story with us and thanks to Kristyn for sharing these gorgeous images.
