Real {New Orleans} Outdoor Garden Wedding: Lauren + Christian
On her birthday, Lauren Boyd received a gift that has changed the trajectory of her life forever: her fiance, Christian Adams, popped the Question! She is now officially a franchise player for “Team Adams” – and she will be one for the rest of her life. This super lovely charcoal grey- and yellow-infused wedding was aptly photographed by Stevie Ramos of Stevie Ramos Photography.

Bride: Lauren Boyd
Groom: Christian Adams
Wedding Date: 03.30.2012
Location: Ceremony - Botanical Gardens; Reception – The Pavilion of Two Sisters, City Park, New Orleans, Louisiana
The Proposal ….. “Chris proposed on October 14th, 2010 after we enjoyed an amazing dinner at Restaurant August for my upcoming birthday. Full from dinner and excited to be home and relax, I kicked off my shoes, undid the tie of my dress and plopped in our living room’s armchair to watch TV. There’s nothing like being full and happy from your birthday! Little did I know that I wasn’t going to be watching TV that evening. Baffled by my quickness to get comfortable, Chris, still in his full suit, tie and shoes, asked me to “at least put my shoes back on” before I was also asked to close my eyes for my final birthday present. Standing in our old living room, I closed my eyes and was eagerly awaiting a final birthday present when I heard one of the drawers to the entertainment cabinet open. Thinking I was going to receive an electronic device of some sort, a small frown appeared on my face. (“I already have an iPod,” was a fleeting thought I had). But, that frown quickly turned into a huge smile when I opened my eyes to find Chris on one knee and a diamond ring in his hand. The rest was a blur, and I’m certain tears were involved, but that night I officially started on my way to being a part of Team Adams.”
Wedding Theme ….. “Our wedding theme at the Botanical Gardens was simple romance. Nothing was overdone or “too much.” Getting married outside during spring has a lot of perks: flowers are in bloom, the weather is comfortable and everything looks fresh and new. White was the main color focus, but pops of charcoal and marigold yellow were around in just the right places. Chris and I felt that wedding should be about our families and friends and a great celebration. All Chris and I wanted was everyone to eat, drink, dance and enjoy each others’ company. So, we splurged on the food and drinks (adult beverages and kid-friendly!) and made sure that our guests turned servers down because they were so full. I wasn’t sure we succeeded until I saw the wedding photographs; you can’t fake that kind of happiness.”
The Planning Process & Challenges ….. “Finding a location that allowed us to have the ceremony and reception in the same location was a big help. It saved on finding and negotiating with vendors and figuring out how to transport people between venues. Also, starting the planning process early helped. Everyone asked me why Chris and I waited so long to get married after he proposed (1 year, 6 months) and I said, “because good things take time to plan.” Because we were able to plan ahead, when Chris and I accepted new jobs in Seattle six months before the wedding, it didn’t phase us. The venues, the food, the photographer, my dress, the florist, the bridesmaids dresses and the cake were all ready to go!
Another challenge was that it started to rain during the ceremony! I remember whispering to the officiant, “Let’s do the highlights,” at the altar.”
