I’m sure you can all recount several instances where you’ve reconnected with someone via facebook that you knew in high school, but are amazed to see how much they’ve changed…for the better. Such was the case with Mekisha and Clifton. Mekisha and Clifton met during their junior and senior years of high school, dated for a second, and then parted ways. Six years later they re-united on Facebook, and although they were about four hours away from one another, they managed to make things work. Their New Orleans wedding was inspired by the hollywood glamour of the 1930’s. Check out these gorgeous images captured by Brandi Smyth Photography.

From the Bride:
“My wedding was inspired by the old Hollywood glamour of the 1940s. We had vintage transportation, our reception was at theater built in the 1930s, and all the bling that you can handle!
I was a very “hands-off” bride, which was somewhat ironic considering my strong Type-A personality. All of my friends were expecting me to be the ultimate Bridezilla, but to their surprise (and mine, too) I was indeed the opposite.
Often times my wedding planner, Lani Bailey with Each and Every Detail, would have to say, “Mekisha, you need to make this decision…today!” Lani handled the affair with such grace and elegance that never noticed any challenges!”
Most Memorable Moment
For me, the most memorable part of the day was my brothers seeing me for the first time in my wedding gown. Because my parents are deceased, my brothers, who are ten and thirteen years older than I am, gave me away. Immediately they were overcome with tears as they saw their baby sister all grown up. I was pretty overwhelmed, too.
{LOVE BIRDS}
He says, “Mekisha and I are total opposites, but she is the perfect balance for me. She’s always prepared, prompt, and precise. I, on the other hand, am more of the loose type. She has motivated me to be a better man, better father, and pushed me to maximize my potential in every aspect of my life.”
She says, “I consider myself lucky to have found someone who supports all of my endeavors, wipes away my tears, and still manages to spoil me rotten. Cliff has taught me to not just be alive, but rathe, just ‘live.’ He truly balances me out and is my best friend and gift from God.”
Congrats Mekisha and Clifton and thanks for sharing your gorgeous wedding with us!
