Real {Texas} Wedding: Nikky + Huston

The first time Huston set eyes on Nikky leaving a building on their college campus, he was absolutely smitten: he was positive that this was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen! Unfortunately, he wasn’t sure he would ever see her again – until he did! They quickly became friends, and Huston finally asked this woman of his dreams to be more than just a friend.

The couple’s Nigerian-American wedding was beautifully photographed by Rhphotoarts.

Bride: Nikky Audu
Groom: Huston Mgbemena
Wedding Date: 08.03.2012
Location: Agave Road, Katy, TX

How He Proposed ….. “We were going back to Fort Worth together after the holidays in Houston. I said I wanted to stop at a gas station in Waco. Once we got to Waco, I wanted to know who won the basketball game for some reason. I kept saying I wanted to know the game’s results. We drove up to one of Baylor’s oldest buildings that is lit green when we win games. It also has a clock tower that chimes throughout campus. This was her favorite building during our days on campus. I asked her to step out of the car for some air, and yes! the clock chimed. She asked if I was happy now and I told her that it would make me happier if she would spend the rest of her life with me. She was so surprised, that I was on my knee for at least a full minute.”

Wedding Preparations ….. “The coming months were in preparation for the wedding. When you are with each other for 6 years, I guess you don’t see the point of waiting a year to get married. The very next day I was looking for a dress, while I allocated finding a wedding venue to him.” – Nikky

“She wasn’t playing around. You had to get your job done or else she would give that eye and I didn’t want the eye.” But he understood her sense of urgency. “Being a Nigerian American couple makes getting married particularly tricky because we had to prepare for a traditional wedding and a western wedding. Our parents handled the details for the Nigerian traditional ceremony and we took care of the western wedding ourselves.” – Huston

The Perfect Venue & Wedding ….. “We took a look at a lot of places and we liked them a lot, but when I saw Agave Road, I fell in love with it. I had to have it as the wedding venue!  The rustic venue had a beautiful outdoor as well as indoor setup. The landscape looked like a movie scene and I always had an affinity for water. Agave had areas with small waterfalls and fire pits spread throughout the venue. It could feel like summer and winter all at once at this venue. [For the wedding,] we sent less than 125 invites, but somehow, the number of guests doubled by night’s end. The ceremony started outdoors as the sun set at 8 pm and moved indoors for a tasteful reception. We had a lot of fun dancing and talking with our guests. The greatest thing about Agave Road was that it gave you the feel of an extravagant wedding, while at the same time giving you a feel of intimacy.”

{You Make Loving You So Easy}

He loves ….. “She is very studious and modest, and she enjoys growing spiritually.”

She loves …… “He is confident, has great perception and is very loving.”

    Wow! I can see what the bride is saying about the venue – that is really unique and beautiful. That first shot of the bride from above is amazing as well.
