Winter Wedding of Wanda + Josh in {DC} by Abby Jiu Photography

Happy Monday!  Let's get this week started off right with a winter wedding that's pretty, chic, and full of inspiration ideas.  From the fluffy petticoat, to the Badgley Mischka's to the tea length Amsale dress, Wanda was beaming with style.   What we love most about this wedding photographed by one of our DC favs, Abby Jiu Photography is the hot chocolate bar.  So creative!   Take a look for yourself and enjoy more images in the photo gallery here.

The proposal...

"Josh and I met on Match.com! After coming home from a dance rehearsal Josh suggested we order in chinese (my favorite) and relax for the evening. He grabbed our fortune cookies and when I opened mine it said "Bubble" (my nickname) WILL YOU MARRY ME? Before I could get over the shock and the "how did he do that" he was on one knee! He had a bottle of champagne waiting as well. It was the perfect proposal..intimate, personal and romantic."

From the bride...
"Everyone told me that planning a wedding would be tough but being the type A, planner that I am I thought I could handle it alone. Well after trying to get started for a little over 3 weeks in addition to managing my full time job and part time job coaching my dance team, I knew I needed help for the sanity of my relationship ;) We looked online for some top planners in the area and came across Table 6 Productions.  After viewing their online portfolio I immediately knew that was the company I wanted planning my wedding. After our initial planning meeting with Lauryn, our planner I immediately was more calm knowing that I had someone that would be by my side every step of the way in the planning process. From the start we knew that we wanted a Winter Wonderland Wedding. I love rhinestones and bling but my now husband is more laid back and less flashy so I wan ted to make sure his style would be represented too. After our first venue fell through we stumbled upon Lincoln Restaurant. We never even considered this venue before but after our initial meeting with Jeanhee we knew immediately that this was our place. It was the perfect mix of style, flair, modern and rustic. Our planner helped us secure our vendors, which I have to say was a huge plus..I had no idea how much work and detail went into everything. With the help of Lauryn we also met Abby our photographer. After one meeting with Abby we knew she was the one. To me your photos are one of the most important detail of your wedding and Abby was amazing..I still tear up when I look at our photos. The sleepless nights, long to do lists and periods of stress were all worth it when the church doors opened and I saw the love of my life waiting for me at the end of the aisle!"

On incorporating culture...
'The church we were married in is one of the oldest Africian American Catholic churches in the DC area.  It was the church my parents were married in and its the church I grew up in."

Lasting memories…
"Wow its so hard to choose one...in addition to seeing him tear up as I walked down the aisle to him it would have to be our first dance. He agreed to take lessons with me and we danced to an original song we heard while on vacation. Being a professional dancer he wanted to make sure he didn't make me look bad on the floor. That intimate time dancing together for the first time as husband and wife is a moment I will never forget!"

{You Make Loving You Easy}

He loves…When I asked him his first response was "Do I have to choose just one?" and then he said I love your commitment to me, all of the hard work you put into our relationship and our future."

She loves…Again its hard to pick just one..but if I had to pick one I would say I love the little things he does to show he cares..from a surprise bubble bath after a long day of work, to surprising me with my favorite cupcakes or a note on the door. Also he always tells me he loves me..everyday, multiple times a day. I will never get tired of hearing those three words from him!"
