It’s September which means fall TV is right around the corner! In just a matter of weeks, our favorite dramas and comedies return with all new seasons bringing all kinds of conflict and action and laughs and best of all…romance. So we’re counting down ten diverse romances that we’re anticipating this TV season, whether the couples are already together, working out their feelings about possibly being together, and everything in between. Which romances are you looking forward to seeing?

1. Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Glenn (Steven Yeun)
Maggie and Glenn have been a staple couple for The Walking Dead from the very first moment the two came together. So hopefully one of their fate’s won’t be the same as what comic book fans have read so that we can get more Maggie and Glenn loving on the small screen for a very long time. It’s been awhile since we’ve gotten a steamy or emotionally charged relationship scene from these two. The ball is in your court, Robert Kirkman.

2. April (Sarah Drew) and Jackson (Jesse Williams)
If April and Jackson can get the timing of their desires on the same page and not necessarily get back to where they once were but simply get on one accord and move forward in growing their relationship, these two can persevere without question. The time jump in the episode following McDreamy’s death was like a relationship bootcamp unlike any other for this couple so it will be very interesting to see what becomes of them in the upcoming season.
Grey’s Anatomy returns for its twelfth season Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 8/7c on ABC.

3. Olivia (Kerry Washington) and Fitz (Tony Goldwyn)
If the final scene between Olivia and Fitz in the season four finale of Scandal wasn’t ambiguous, I don’t know what is. With Mellie successfully a politician in her own right and a title to prove it, not to mention lots of respectable distance from Fitz, Fitz is essentially free to bring his relationship with Olivia to the public. But will he? And if he does, what comes next? If he doesn’t, what comes next? Fans have got a lot of questions about the future of Liv and Fitz and both have a lot at stake if they choose to have their relationship out in the open. Not to mention, there’s an overload of life and death political drama that these two eat, sleep, and breathe so will we see more romance from these two in the upcoming season in the oval office (or Vermont)? Or would you like to see another love triangle?

4. Iris (Candice Patton) and Barry (Grant Gustin)
The first season of The Flash ended with Iris finding out about Barry’s big secret identity as The Flash. To say their relationship was complicated before she found out is an understatement so the stakes have been significantly raised for the upcoming season. These two have a lot to work through but will Iris stand by Barry’s side as a friend or a lover? Only time will tell.

5. Clarke (Eliza Taylor) and Lexa (Alycia Debnam-Carey)
Season two ended with Clarke walking away from the people she’s been fighting for this entire time, unable to look them in the eyes and not be haunted by all that she’s done to get them to this point. Leaving fans unable to forget who else she’s left behind. Lexa and Clarke went in separate ways in the first part of the finale, Lexa not even seen in the second part. With the doors opened wide for a relationship between these two this season, it would be extremely disappointing not to move forward with this “ship” come season three. So now the question is, how will these two reunite and will what they face together and apart keep them on solid ground?

6. Mindy Lahiri (Mindy Kaling) and Danny (Chris Messina)
Mindy and Danny were the last people anyone would have ever guess would get together on The Mindy Project back in season one. But approaching its fourth season, Mindy and Danny have been through more than any couple on the show and they only just made it official recently. From battling a long distance relationship to handling oddball family members and everything in between, Mindy and Danny have faced so much and really, this is only the beginning. And if there’s one thing anyone can agree upon when it comes to this show, it’s that the cast and crew nails the little moments in relationships that make us all worry and tick and laugh. There’s no guessing what shenanigans these two will get themselves into this season but one thing is for sure, it will definitely garner plenty of laughs.

7. Gloria (Sofía Vergara) and Jay (Ed O’Neill)
Whether or not you’re still actually watching this show from week to week – which you should be because it’s still funny – one thing is for sure…when you see Sofia Vergara on the screen, the channel doesn’t turn. Vergara is captivating and hilarious and has really made her mark as a comedic actress. The contrast of Gloria and Jay’s cultures and personalities is so relatable and beyond entertaining, even after all of these years on TV. So be sure to tune in next season to see what shenanigans these two get themselves into.

8. Cookie (Taraji P, Henson) and Lucious (Terrence Howard)
Cookie may have set out to go after Lucious in the two part season one finale of Empire but these two are just going through a few things is all. Loyalty in this relationship is like cookie dough that’s just so good, it doesn’t always make it into the oven to bake. Sometimes it gets there and is fully realized and sometimes, it’s not and becomes a poison. This is the underlying theme of these star crossed lovers and we can’t help but be glued to the screen and see how the crumbs fall. Season one was heart stopping…well, not for Lucious as we’ve discovered he’s still got a lot of life to live given his misdiagnosis. Even though he’s behind bars, we all know he’ll be fine. So we’ve only just seen the beginning for these two. And something tells me we won’t have anything to worry about with a sophomore slump if season one is any indication as to a hint of what goodness we can expect next season.

9. Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz) and Marcus (Guest star, Nick Cannon)
Diaz is known for her whip smart sarcasm, dry humor that often goes over the heads of her co-workers, and her cold heart. So when Marcus came into the picture, we got to see Diaz smile once or twice and lighten up a bit. Not much but enough for this change to be noticeable. With Nick Cannon being a guest star, it’s unclear how long this relationship will last but it’s been quite exciting getting to see Diaz as she tries her hardest to balance what she loves being with what what she’s loving being opened up to.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine returns for its third season Sunday, September 27, 2015 at 8:30/7:30c on Fox.

10. Rainbow (Tracee Ellis Ross) and Dre (Anthony Anderson)
If there’s one new comedy you should have been tuning into last season, Blackish should have been it. Returning for season two, the show gives no signs of slowing down on tackling controversial issues head on (confirmed) with love, whether Dre is at work, his kids’ schools, home, and everywhere in between. At home, if there’s one relationship we enjoyed following the most its freshman year, it was Rainbow and Dre’s. Whether finding out how these two met or watching them navigate dealing with unannounced family visits, there are plenty more laughs coming from Rainbow and Dre that I can’t wait to have and hope you’re on board to have as well.
Black-ish returns for its second season Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 9:30/8:30c on ABC.

Notable Mention:
Alex (Priyanka Chopra) is an FBI recruit caught up in one of the biggest attacks in NYC in years and if the trailer of the series premiere of Quantico is any indication, it’s knowing this conspiracy drama will also provide quite a few steamy scenes to look forward to. It’s unclear yet where Alex’s love life stands but ABC is giving us plenty to look forward to in the newest diverse drama its brought to the table.
