1. Old Town Alexandria – Alexandria, VA

2. Old Town Fredericksburg – Fredericksburg, VA
With over 350 original 18th and early 19th century buildings and 100+ boutiques, galleries, and restaurants, Fredericksburg is the perfect blend of vintage and modern. For the old town feel, whether in the center of it all or on the outskirts as the town bleeds out into the suburbs, Fredericksburg just may be the town you’ve been searching for.

3. Newport News Marriott at City Center – Newport News, VA
You don’t have to be a supermodel or doctor like Quiana and James Pinckney to shoot at the beautiful Newport News Marriott but their engagement party located there sure can give you ideas for your own colorful e-session. 4. The Byrd Theatre – Richmond, VA
This State and National Historical Landmark has been on the map for over eighty years and designed in the French Empire style by Fred Bishop, is rightfully self described as an “architectural treasure chest.” This theatre is open 365 days of the year but has very many private events, so book your engagement session here early if you want the inside of this beauty to be the backdrop of your own.

5. Hermitage Museum and Gardens – Norfolk, Virginia

6. The Winery at Bull Run – Centreville, VA
While this winery is well known for hosting weddings, engagement sessions are also very much welcome so perhaps consider an intimate wine filled getaway with your fiancé and a coterie photographer in the shadows to capture it all.

For historical lovers out there or those with a certain historical theme, what better a location to hold your engagement session than George Washington’s backyard? There’s plenty of ground to cover in this eighteen mile long trail through Virginia, Washington D.C. and Maryland. Best of all, this trail is absolutely a beauty in each and every single season, especially fall and winter. So if you’re looking to play on the seasons, put this location at the top of your list of places to consider for your e-session.

There’s a reason non-locals flock to Virginia Beach in the summer. It’s absolutely gorgeous. From the beach to the shops and restaurants to the nearby museums and theatre and parks, Virginia Beach has it all and it’s all visually stunning. If you met on the beach or enjoy going to the beach with your fiancé, consider taking a portion of your day to memorialize your appreciation for the shore by having your engagement session here. And be sure to pick up a sweet treat for the ride home.
