Ashley and Damir come from very different backgrounds. Ashley is from Atlanta and Damir is from Yugoslavia. However, after dating they realized they both had independent and adventurous spirits and their deeper connections superseded their differences in culture. When Ashley was planning her wedding she had three “must haves” for her big day: it must reflect her southern heritage, there had to be pops of color, and it had to have a 1920’s styled theme. All of her dreams came true when she pulled off a beautiful outdoor garden wedding with bright pink accents. She looked stunning in her vintage form fitting gown and matching vintage accessories. This couple had such an awesome time that they had an after party following the reception at the glamorous W Hotel. Nadia D. Photography beautifully photographed all of the couple’s intimate and exciting moments from start to finish.

Description of Event from the Bride:
From the beginning, I knew three things that I wanted to see in my wedding: 1) I wanted my wedding to reflect all things Southern, 2) I wanted pops of color, and 3) I wanted a 1920s styled theme.
All things southern: We held our wedding at the Atlanta Botanical Garden at the beginning of the summer.
Pops of color: I contrasted bright pink touches with various background hues of gray/sliver. I even wore bright pink shoes to match my bridesmaids. I also love flowers, so we held the wedding at the botanical garden, where else could I have flowers around every single corner.
Wedding Style
I love the elegance of the 1920s, so I wanted to incorporate that style into my wedding. I didn’t know what designer I wanted for my dress, but was sure that I wanted a mermaid style cut since I am really tall. I found the perfect dress on a shopping trip in New York at Kleinfeld. I choose a wedding dress by Anna Maier/Ulla-Maija Couture (Stephanie). When I pulled it on, my cousin, aunt, mom, and I knew that it was perfect. The dress was modern, but with a 1920 flare, especially the jeweled flower on the hip. To bring the 1920s look together, I paired my dress with a short veil.
Incorporation of Culture
I am from Atlanta, and my husband is from Yugoslavia. To go along with the Southern theme, we served mint juleps during the cocktail reception. During our reception, Damir’s best man sang a traditional folk song from the region. Lastly, an African-American tradition is to jump a broom at the end of a ceremony. We kept this tradition to commemorate my ancestors who were slaves and not legally sanctioned to marry one another.
The Most Memorable Moment
The most memorable part of the wedding day was when Damir hoisted me over his shoulders as we entered our reception.
You Make Loving You So Easy
From the Groom…Damir loves that I am my own woman, who is independent and adventurous.
From the Bride…Damir is so adventurous. From paraglidng to scuba diving, to just going off the beaten path, Damir will always ensure that we will have an adventure no matter where our lives take us.
