Charles James: Beyond Fashion was the theme at Monday’s 2014 Met Gala, which was held in New York City. Charles James, British-born designer {and self-taught} known as “America’s First Couturier,” was in demand from the 1930?s and even into the 1970?s. Known for his highly structured aesthetic, exquisite ball gowns and detailed draping, he is regarded as one of the most notable designers in America to have worked in the tradition of haute couture.
Feast your eyes on my 2014 Met Gala Red Carpet Favorites! Each look can be described as “wearable art” and can easily translate to bridal with a few tweaks. What do you think? Who did I miss?

On May 8, 2014, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Anna Wintour Costume Center called Charles James: Beyond Fashion exhibition will open to the public. Approximately seventy-five of James’s most notable designs will be presented in two locations—the new Lizzie and Jonathan Tisch Gallery in the Anna Wintour Costume Center as well as special exhibition galleries on the Museum’s first floor. Field trip anyone?
