Chicago is such a beautiful and spectacularly clean city, those planning their honeymoon in the windy city are sure to enjoy themselves no matter what’s on their itinerary. Here are a few ideas to get you started on your spring, summer, or fall visit.

1. Get Physical…Or Not
For some action on the water, set up a session through Chicago Sup for a paddle boarding lesson, expedition, or yoga paddle board session. For a splurge and a little bit more speed, get behind the wheel at the Chicago Speedway. And if you don’t want to leave your car at all, head to Cascade Drive In which is open seven days a week, for a relaxing drive in movie or two of the most recents blockbuster hits!

2. The Navy Pier
During the summer, the Pepsi Skyline Stage at the Navy Pier offers free movies for locals and tourists to enjoy an outdoor movie on lake Michigan. from Jaws to Ghostbuster, the more recent classics are sure to bring out crowds so be sure to arrive early. Fireworks cruises are also available twice a week in the summer for those looking for more sparks. No matter the time of year, the Chicago Shakespeare Theater is a great place to head inside and watch a classic play in between walking the pier. Or if you’re up for a more familiar experience, there’s an IMAX theater on the pier as well. The Crystal Gardens is a six story glass atrium, one acre botanical garden which holds over 80 palm trees and more. It’s so beautiful, you should scope this place out while you’re in town to begin your list of places to consider for the renewing of your vows years down the line.

3. Shop
Magnificent Mile, Water Tower Place, State Street, and even Oak Street may already be on your list of places to scope out but also be sure to get the most out of your shopping by visiting Gurnee Mills, the largest outlet mall in the state of Illinois.
For books, Anderson’s Bookshop is a great independent store that has amazing author events worth sitting in on and Open Books is also a great indie worth checking out.
Transistor is a great spot for music lovers. A shop, gallery, recording space, and screening room, this place is a quadruple threat. And who knows who you’ll find yourself rubbing shoulders with here.

4. Culture
Looking to cross off “Attend an Opera” on your bucket list? Taking in a show at Lyric Opera of Chicago, one of the world’s great opera companies is the place to finally make this happen. But a trip to Chicago isn’t complete without taking in jazz or blues. Perhaps a date at the Jazz Showcase will fill the void?
Then there’s The Second City. So many comedy greats have worked here, many of which landed at SNL which, naturally led to incredibly successful careers. Tina Fey included. Best get here early and catch the next big comedy great before the mainstream catches on.

5. Indulge
You’ve heard of Garrett Popcorn but also be sure to make room for a chocolate tour at Fannie May’s and the ice cream shop on every single best of ice cream in Chicago list, the Original Rainbow Cone. If you’re planning on taking a road trip into the city, be sure to stock up on sweets for the ride home because you’re definitely going to need something to snack on while sitting in the traffic as you leave the city. There’s plenty of sweets in Chicago to choose from, so choose wisely and enjoy.
