For the brides to be looking to take on the big city in a new and exciting way, here are five things to do to make your honeymoon even more of an adventure! We’ve got a great starting point of the familiar with a twist. You’ve heard of Broadway but what about Shakespeare in the Park? Read on for more surprises sure to make for wonderful memories on your honeymoon.

1. Celebrate Culture
For the book lovers out there, consider taking a tour of The New York Public Library which is the second largest library in the United States and the fourth largest in the world. Definitely worth checking out? The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture which is generally recognized as the world’s leading research library devoted exclusively to documenting the history and cultural development of peoples of African descent worldwide. From its founding in 1925 during the Harlem Renaissance, the Center has amassed vast collections of over 10 million items. Self guided tours are encouraged and there are limited guided tours available as well. Admission is free though donations are greatly appreciated.

2. Support the Arts
You may already have seeing a Broadway show, perhaps George Takei’s Allegiance which opens this November, or taking in Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, or The Met on your list of things to do during your NYC honeymoon. But there’s more for the lover of the arts.
Shakespeare in the Park takes place every summer and is a free season of two Shakespeare plays performed by the greats of Broadway and Hollywood.
The 2015 Summer Season will showcase The Tempest and Cymbeline. Since Shakespeare in the Park is a free first come first served event, note that you can guarantee yourself a seat by making a donation to The Public Theater.
In addition to checking out The Public Theater and Joe’s Pub which support Shakespeare in the Park and the Broadway community, there’s also another incredible live experience worth looking into. The Moth. The Moth is an acclaimed not-for-profit organization dedicated to the art and craft of storytelling. For an intimate night of powerful storytelling, check out the latest New York session of The Moth. For a preview, listen to a number of stories that The Moth has made available on their podcast. If you like what you hear but are unable to make it out to NY, The Moth has performances all across the country so you can plan accordingly.

3. Go Outdoors
A visit to Central Park or the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is perfect, the latter especially for those not hindered by allergies. Take a stroll down the world famous Central Park where surprises will find you at almost every turn. The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is just as beautiful as one would imagine, making this a must see spot as well. the brooklyn Botanic Garden is open Tuesday – Saturday and there is a small admission fee.
Coney Island has so much to offer. From the beach and boardwalk, to the world famous amusement rides, museum, and aquarium, Coney Island has something for everyone to enjoy and is the perfect spot to relax at any time during your honeymoon. Best of all, if you’re looking for fireworks, your chance comes every Friday night during the summer.

4. Visit a Museum
You may already be planning to visit the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) but there’s an abundance of museums in the city worth visiting as well. Consider also taking a stroll around the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art. Or taking in a panel led by the creative minds behind and faces from your favorite TV shows at the Paley Center for Media. The Intrepid Sea, Air, & Space Museum will take your breath away. And last but certainly not least, the French Institute Alliance Française is a mecca for the inner Francophile in us all, perfect for the couple yearning to take in a piece of the city of love but unable to travel afar. There’s so much the city has to offer, you’ll never run out of places to explore.

5. Indulge
When you’re ready to indulge, step inside Sydney’s Sweets for a delicious cupcake! From Strawberry Shortcake and Southern Red Velvet to Peanut Butter and Rich Chocolate Cake, there’s a cupcake waiting for you at Sydney Sweets, which you may have seen featured on WE TV.
If you’re looking for a good macaron, consider the milk chocolate-banana macaron at Sugar Plumm or visiting one of the many locations of Macaron Cafe.
There are treats on just about every block of NYC; the trick is finding the diamond in the rough. Start here and you will not be disappointed!
