Some of the best love stories happen when fate brings two people together after years of separation. Marcia Dixon and Jimond Pugh had grown up in the same church in their hometown of Pensacola, Florida but didn’t see much of each other after their childhood days. Fifteen years later, they reconnected on social media and things quickly went from casual conversations on Facebook to meeting up in person. They soon realized they were destined to be more than friends and a promising relationship sparked.
The Atlanta couple got engaged last October. Jimond surprised Marcia by asking her to marry him in front of family and friends while tailgating at the Magic City Classic in Birmingham, Alabama. “He was behaving strangely right before he proposed, and I had no clue what was going on until he was on bended knee,” says the son-to-be bride. “His words were so genuine and heartfelt that I’m sure to remember the entire experience for a lifetime! During our engagement, Jimond has been so thoughtful to give me a personalized card on the fourth of every month as a countdown to our wedding.”
The loving couple kept things casual and romantic in their engagement shoot. With the city as a backdrop , the joyful start to their new journey together is captured in each photo by Todd Baugh Photography.
Wedding Location: Mason Murer Fine Art Gallery in Atlanta, Georgia
What the First Date was Like
Our first date was at a tavern near where I lived at the time. Jimond was in town briefly visiting family and I had friends visiting from out of town but we both were able to steal away for a moment. Our first date went smoothly, with both of us feeling a sense of ease around each other. The rest is history!
Favorite Thing to Do as a Couple
Given this very exciting and busy time in our lives right now, Jimond and I enjoy a nice home cooked meal and a movie but traveling is also a favorite pastime of ours. However, saving and planning for a wedding has temporarily decreased travel right now.
The Engagement Session
Our engagement session took place in Piedmont Park in Atlanta, Georgia on April 27, 2014. We did not have a specific theme but since our wedding will be held in Atlanta we wanted to be sure to capture the nature of this landmark park and essence of the city which our photographer did beautifully.
How Wedding Planning Has Been
With just under a year to plan, wedding planning has been a fun and overwhelming experience at times. I appreciate thoughtfulness and attention to detail and will try to incorporate those characteristics into our wedding. Jimond and I have learned a lot about each other during this process of engagement and planning a wedding and feel we have grown together as a couple. Having a wedding planner and supportive family and friends has also helped.
What They Look Forward to Most on the Wedding Day
We both look forward to starting our future together as man and wife and are most excited about saying our vows before God, our family and friends. The party planned afterwards is also highly anticipated by the both of us.
