Leslie and Rick were meant to be. The two went to the same university but never even met until a mutual friend brought them together. Years later, the beautiful couple opted for a private ceremony, inviting loved ones to celebrate their union at an open regal themed reception on the day the two became one.

Although we attended Bowie State University at the same time, we didn’t cross paths at University. Rick and I met through a mutual friend. My friend is his coworker. I first heard about Rick in May of 2012, via a G-chat conversation with our mutual friend. I really wasn’t interested in meeting anyone at the moment so I just let it go and didn’t bring it up again.
Fast forward one month and my friend brings up Rick, again. Still trying to avoid being introduced, I flippantly dismissed the subject. However, Rick is a little hard to avoid. I made plans to hang out with friends on Friday, June 22, 2012, I run into my friend and who is she with… yes, Rick. He was very nonchalant about meeting me and three days later, I received a message from Rick via social media. Then he called me and asked me out on a date. On Friday, June 28, 2012, we went on our first date.
The proposal was very personal and private. Just the two of us and a loose diamond. After he proposed, he asked me about my ideal ring and a week later we started the process of having my dream ring custom made!
Dress shopping was fun. It was just myself and my mother. I was looking for an illusion neckline, drop waist ball gown and I had one specific dress in mind. The first bridal salon visit did not yield the dress of my dreams. The second attempt to find the dress, my mother and I drove two hours to the only bridal boutique in the area that had the dress I was searching for. I tried on the dress and loved it, but it was not the perfect dress I dreamed of. My third attempt to find my dream dress was a success. I went to Amanda Ritchey Bridal in Baltimore, MD. While there, I found the Sincerity 3771 dress.
Our Ceremony. We decided to have a private ceremony with just our parents in attendance. We wanted to focus on us, without the pomp and circumstance of having a ceremony and bridal party.
Stick to your vision and enjoy the day. It’s true, your wedding day goes by so fast. Make sure you create your ideal wedding day. During your actual wedding day, take a moment and enjoy everything!
