Ashlee and Rashad have known each other for years but it wasn’t until the two reconnected as adults that sparks really began to fly. After a birthday proposal in the city of love, Ashlee and Rashad took to Greenville, SC one year before their June 4, 2016 wedding in Fayetteville, NC to celebrate this milestone. In a low key, relaxed environment on a bright and beautiful day, Ashlee and Rashad were excited to take on streets of the south together.
Tell us about how you met and all about the proposal!
Our families have known one another for years since our two towns are approximately eight miles apart. His mother was my beautician and I have basically known his family all my life. However, due to my parents relocating across country for the military, we reconnected and began dating in 2010.
The proposal took place on the weekend of Ashlee’s 25th birthday in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with an agenda planned by Rashad. Once arriving, the couple visited the famous LOVE Park, the Rocky statue, and many historical landmarks. Before leaving, Rashad suggested they go to the rooftop to view the skyline. While viewing the scenery, Rashad asked Ashlee, “Are you going to take a picture?” Hesitantly, Ashlee responded, “Of what?” Ashlee began taking pictures, and when she turned around Rashad was down on one knee.
The engagement session…
The photo shoot with our photographer, Sierra was amazing! Sierra was very professional and asked us questions prior to the shoot to get to know our personalities. One of the highlights included her idea of suggesting the photo shoot be outside to capture a nice backdrop with natural lighting. My fiancé is extremely shy in front of the camera, and Sierra’s bubbly personality made us feel comfortable as she captured our special moments together.
What did you do on your first date?
For our very first date, we went out to eat dinner at a seafood restaurant in Augusta, GA.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
Our favorite thing to do is travel and experience new places, food, and attractions together!
How has wedding planning been so far?
Wedding planning is a lot of fun because you are combining both of your personalities into one big event. There are moments where it is extremely overwhelming to make a decision because there are many options to choose from, and you want to be sure you make the best decision.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day.
I’m really looking forward to the vision being implemented once all of the planning is completed, and our family coming together to help us celebrate our unity.
