The 2012 Grammy Award red carpet style bought out a eye-catching mix of classy and daring looks. From Fergie’s orange lace Jean Paul Gaultier gown to Nicki Minaj’s Red Riding Hood-inspired, the music industry’s biggest annual celebration offered plenty of high and low memorable fashion notes.
THE DARING
Fergie went for a bold look in a see-through orange Jean Paul Gauliter lace dress. Nicki Minaji’s Versace red carpet look took a page out of childhood fable story Little Miss Red Riding Hood, literally. Robyn switched up casual and perhaps hiking for her red carpet appearance. The fit of Taraji P. Henson’s Brian Rennie did nothing to enhance her curves.
BRIDAL INSPIRATION
Katy Perry channeled a bridal inspired look in a light blue Elie Saab number that expertly matched her hair style. Taylor Swift stepped out in a modern East-inspired Zuhair Murad gown. Carrie Underwood went for elegant simplicity in this curve-hugging Gomez-Garcia design.
STYLE SHOWDOWN
Alicia Keys and Rihanna not only both wore a LBD’s but showed up in the same Christian Louboutin Spring 2012 “Bis Un Bout” heels. While Alicia was one of the few red carpet stars to wear a short dress thanks to her Alexandre Vauthier with a bold sculptural gold necklace, Rihanna up the fashion showdown with her low-cut, thigh-high self-designed Armani dress.
SHOE ENVY
Corrine Bailey Rae’s square-toe Christian Siriano heels balanced out her black ruffle cocktail dress. Giuliana Rancic’s Jimmy Choo Bunting heeled sandals is a look I predict can become apart of our My Obsession weekly feature.
SCENE HITTERS
Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott stuck with a classy ombre Monique Lhuiller strapless plum gown. Marsha Ambroise and Ledisi played up their sparkle dresses with simple My Obsession-worthy accessories. From Diana Ross’s embellished sleeves to Amber Rose’s neon yellow gown, the red carpet offered plenty of scene hitting style.

BEAUTY & HAIR PICKS
Adele won us over with her bold red lip! Alicia Keys had my best hair pick thanks to her half cornrow, half pompadour hairstyle.
MENS STYLE
Shaggy, Kirk Franklin, AJ Calloway, Swizz Beatz, LL Cool J and Shaggy were my best dressed men. Swizz and Kirk went for a traditional look with bow-ties while A.J. and Shaggy left their ties at home. LL Cool J proved why you should envy his hat collection yet again.
BEST DRESSED
Kelly Rowland looked dynamic in an unstated Alberta Ferretti number.
