Welcome to a sneak peek into a love 8 years in the making!!! Giovannii and Travis met all those years ago in the University of New Haven, Connecticut right in Biology class. They noticed each other and connected during their freshman experience program – and it was a done deal from then on. They first met during the beginning of an amazing journey (college) and are now about to embark on a completely new journey that is all theirs. This time, it will be the most amazing journey they have ever taken!
These two beautiful people and their love was brilliantly captured by Christine Ferrie of C. Ferrie Photography. Make sure to run along to her website and view more amazing pieces of her work.
The Bride: Giovannii Ruffin
The Groom: Travis Salkey
The Occupation: Bride – Law Graduate; Groom – Social Worker
The Wedding Date: August 31, 2012
The Location: Supply Pond Park, Branford, CT
The Proposal ….. “Travis proposed to me on July 3,2010. We discussed marriage throughout our relationship and even went window ring shopping. He asked me to meet him at my favorite restaurant in New Haven, Pad Thai. I thought we were just meeting up to have dinner with his mother who was in town for the fourth of July weekend. I got there before them and waited for about 10 min. As soon as Travis walked in he took out the ring and asked me to be his wife. I was so caught of guard, but the answer was yes before he even finished his sentence. He put the ring on my finger and it was the exact ring I told him I wanted. I never felt so complete, like God put us in the perfect situation to meet, fall in love and spend eternity together.”
The Theme ….. “Our engagement photoshoot was inspired by the wedding theme: vintage, old world glamour. I told our photographer Christine Ferrie, that I wanted a 40’s feel and a “twilight” movie background. She had the perfect location and told me that a vintage, long cigarette would give a great effect. I’ve always loved the way people dressed up in the 40’s. So polished, elegant and stately! I loved the way the photos turned out! She’s a visionary!”
The Details …. “We definitely incorporated culture into our photos. Black woman and men really were stylish in that era. Beautiful hats with birdcage veils added the cultural touch we were looking to capture.”
{You Make Loving You So Easy}
“I love her elegant combination of brains and beauty.“
“I love the way he loves me. When a man truly loves you, there is nothing in the world that he won’t do for you. There is no sacrifice too great and no dream too big. He lives his life for me, to create a future for us. To provide for me and to make me feel secure knowing that he’s always there. It’s the most comforting feeling in the world.“
Congratulations on your engagement, Giovannii and Travis! Many blessings to you as you plan your wedding.
