The day Kellon tagged along to a friend’s family reunion, his life changed forever. He met the girl that one day he would propose to on New Year’s Eve. He met the girl that would one day become his wife. Celebrating their upcoming May nuptials at Ventanas in Atlanta, Georgia, the happy couple decided to take their loved ones along for a ride and highlight some exciting landmarks in Atlanta for their engagement session while incorporating their beautiful theme, “One Love.”
Tell us about how you met and all about the proposal!
Kellon and I met at my family reunion in Alliance, Ohio when I was twelve. Kellon was there with my cousins who asked him to come along to distract them from the normal boring family reunion fun.
Nineteen years later, we headed to my sorority sisters house to bring in the New Year. After we all yelled “Happy New Year,” Kellon insisted that I sit down and open a gift, while I insisted that I would open it once we got home. I heard the DJ queuing “Love On Top” by Beyonce and Kellon insisting that I take a seat. While seated, Kellon presented the gift and I instantly thought that it was the new pair of Christian Louboutin pumps that I had asked for. Lo and behold, it was a Christian Louboutin box, but I noticed that the box details did not show the style or size of the shoe that I had asked for and that it detailed the shoes that my friend was wearing. I continued to open the box and inside the box was a smaller box… and there it was…my beautiful engagement ring. Kellon leaned in and whispered in my ear, “Will you marry me?”
The engagement session…
The theme for our engagement session was “One Love” with the incorporation of Urban Sophistication and Modern Day Chic. We wanted to avoid using our wedding venue for our as engagement shoot set, but wanted our guests to get the feel of the venue from our photos. We also wanted our guests from other states to have a glimpse into our world; where we live, play, and work. A photo tour of Atlanta, if you will.
What did you do on your first date?
At the age of twelve, our first date was to the movies to see Joe’s Apartment! Ha ha!
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
We love to try new recipes and to enjoy each other’s company over dinner. We also enjoy hanging out with friends and family, attending concerts, and sporting events. With my fiancé being a small business owner, we enjoy supporting other small businesses. I would say that our calendars are often full.
How has wedding planning been so far?
Wedding planning has been super fun! Being that I have a project management background and that I am very detailed oriented, I have been enjoying the planning. I have some great friends who help me out and my Mom is also super involved. I loop Kellon in at times but for the most part, he’s given me the go ahead to do what I want as long as we stay close to the budget.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day.
We are most looking forward to celebrating this milestone with one another and with our closest friends and family. We made a bet that Kellon would cry when he sees me walking down the aisle, so I am also looking forward to collecting my hundred dollars. I am definitely looking forward to the outcome of that!
