In true romantic fashion, Jennifer and Allen met on Valentine’s Day. They were both at a singles party at their church when they locked eyes. Their courtship started out slow but eventually developed into an exclusive relationship. The loving couple took to Los Colinas Canals in Dallas for an ode to Africa engagement session. Paying homage to their Nigerian heritage, they donned cultural attire for fun and intimate shots in the park. Captured by Team Howard Photography, take a look at Jen and Allen’s e-session and read more of their love story below.

Tell us all about the proposal!
Allen proposed in classic fashion! Allen & Jennifer used to love to walk around the lake and talk for hours. For the proposal Allen took Jennifer back there and had a small band present to play in the background as he sang her favorite love song, got down on one knee and proposed. They then went to dinner at a very nice restaurant closeby. Finally, the evening ended as Allen surprised Jennifer again by inviting all of her family and friends to his mother’s home for a late evening celebration.
What did you do on your first date?
Our first official date was jam-packed with a variety of activities. It started with breakfast at a local breakfast place. Then we went uptown to walk and talk and shop at some small boutiques. Then we went to get a couple’s massage. Following that we went to a movie at an upscale theater. Following that we went to a small intimate park and had a Bible study and an informal photo shoot by a friend. Finally the evening ended as we went to a Hibachi steak and sushi restaurant. It was an amazing first date!
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
We enjoy traveling together, going to the movies and taking walks in the park and talking.
How has wedding planning?
The planning was fun and stressful at the same time because we actually had two wedding ceremonies and a rehearsal dinner. We had a Friday night wedding specifically honoring the Nigerian African traditional and then the traditional “white wedding” ceremony was held on Sunday. We had over 600 guests attend the weekend’s festivities which made the planning difficult. However, we relished each moment as we understood this was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
What was your favorite moment of your wedding?
We were looking forward to finally becoming one with each other and starting our lives together. We relish each high and low and vow to keep God first in our marriage. We look forward to spending quality time together as best friends.
