Happy Monday! We hope you had a fabulous weekend and are ready to start this weekend off pretty. Over the weekend, we showcased 4 fabulous wedding love stories that you will truly adore. And today we’re highlighting a gorgeous wedding with the most beautiful backdrop – a castle. There really isn’t much you have to do to impress your guests when getting married at Oheka Castle in Huntingdon, NY. All they have to do is drive into the long, picturesque graveled driveway and automatically, your wedding goes from “a really nice wedding” to “the best wedding ever.” Elethea and Mario’s summer wedding was fun and intimate, with some truly stunning photos thanks to Marie of Marie Labbancz Photography. Make sure you check out her blog for more gorgeous inspiration. Her work is amazing! Enjoy these breathtaking photos.
Bride: Elethea Phillibert Groom: Mario Gomez Occupations: Lawyer / Student Wedding Date: 8.30.2011 Location: Oheka Castle
FROM THE BRIDE:
“I am from New York and live in Washington, DC. I always knew, however, that I wanted to marry in New York. My father, sister and I searched many different venues in New York, until we found the one –Oheka Castle. As soon as we entered the graveled driveway of the property, I was in awe. After we chose the location, we met with several vendors. I was pregnant at the time we planned the wedding and had to travel back and forth from Washington, DC to New York countless times to finalize plans. This was of course very draining and time consuming.
Unfortunately, the wedding was initially scheduled for August 29, 2011, however, due to the hurricane, the wedding was re-scheduled to the following day, August 30, 2011. Many guests were unable to attend due to this unfortunate event.”
ON INCORPORATING CULTURE:
“I am of Jamaican descent and my husband Mario is from Guatemala, located in Central America. It was very important to the both of us that we incorporate our cultures into the wedding. To present my heritage, our vendor served Jamaican food such as rice and peas, jerk chicken, oxtail, plaintain, patties, ackee and saltfish and red stripe beer. To honor Mario’s hertiage, the venue catered: Fajitas, Tostones, Paella and Tacos.
Our priest conducted the ceremony in both Spanish and English.
Our Disc Jockey incorporated reggae, and Spanish music into his selection.
The members of our string quartet included both African-American and Latin American violinists.”

I thought about you (after I published my first book) and decided to pull the stalk move and search the internet. And there you were. All is well I see. I am so happy for you. I hope you are able to get this way after the fact. Please send me an email: [email protected]
