Every girl dreams of being swept off her feet by her Prince Charming while sweetly strolling along Paris’ covenant Tuileries Garden. And for Porsha Summerville, this scene is a fairy tale dream come true.
“I usually travel to Paris twice a year for work and this time Terry suggested we make a vacation of the trip, after work finished” says Porsha. Upon Terry’s arrival in the city of light, he charmingly told Porsha that he wanted to take her to a “gallery opening”, but first he had a surprise for her.
As they made their way to “the opening”, the pair ironically crossed a love-lock covered bridge leading into the Tuileries. “Terry then got down on both knees to ask for my hand in marriage. I was overjoyed!” shares Porsha.
After saying yes, to the surprise of a lifetime, Terry revealed that he had also hired a local photographer, to capture the enchanting moment. Read on for photos from this couple’s fabulous Parisian proposal and engagement session, shot by Pierre Torset, while checking out more on their charismatic love story.
Bride-T0-Be: Porsha Summerville
Groom-To-Be: Terry B.
Occupations: Porsha – Sales & Marketing Manager | Terry – Risk Manager
Wedding Date: 3/11/2017
Engagement shoot location: Tuileries Garden – Paris, France
What did you do on your first date? Terry and I both love live music. So, our first couple of dates were both concerts. Our first concert together was Janelle Monae, which is when I knew I was a keeper because he introduced me to his sister at the concert! Our second concert was Corinne Bailey Rae.
Describe your engagement session. Did you have a theme?
Porsha: Because the day of our shoot was also the day Terry proposed, emotions were high and there was a lot of excitement. We wanted to focus on being present and in the moment with each other, so it was important that the shoot not be “posey” or ”orchestrated.” This was also our photographer, Pierre’s goal, so he was very gracious and captured beautiful, organic, precious moments between us. The entire experience was surreal and far beyond what I would have imagined for my engagement. Extremely romantic and I truly felt like a princess in a fairy tale. So grateful, I have the pictures as a reminder of this special day!
Favorite thing to do as a couple: Travel and Eat, Eat, Eat!!!!
How has wedding planning been so far?
Well…it’s only just begun! To avoid unnecessary stress, we’ve committed to focusing on each other as well as what’s authentic to us as a couple. Right now, we’re leaning towards a destination wedding since we love to travel so much. Most likely Jamaica, since this was our first vacation together and holds a special place in our hearts!
What are you most looking forward to on your wedding day?
We look forward to celebrating our union with our loved ones! We have amazing family and friends that have supported us through the last 6 years, so we look forward to laughing, eating and dancing the night away!
