When you think traditional southern wedding, what comes to mind? Mason jars wrapped in burlap perhaps, or lace runners against aged wooden tables? Well, today’s featured wedding inspiration shoot is everything southern with no nods to the traditional expectations that come to mind. The model (bride) was as edgy as they come, serving up all the #blackgirlmagic you’ll need to get through this work day. And the florals, while muted in colors, were still vibrant in their design. Wallow in this glorious southern shoot sent to us by Jessica Maida Photography and make sure to check out more in the gallery here.
From the Photographer:
This editorial bridal shoot was inspired by nature, rich and deep hues and the wild spirit in general. By infusing the rustic nature of the ranch we played off the natural horses, streams and woods rather than the red barn, lace and mason glass feel of the traditional rustic elements. We wanted to keep the model element strong and featured Nigerian model Caroline Olidapo for her bold yet soft presence, elegant nature and played between a more sophisticated high braided bun formal look by Twisted Hair Salon and the natural side swept look by Caroline herself.
Elements we found rich and organic on sight included the moss, bare winter-esque trees, horses, and streams. Our floral bouquet by Janie Medley Floral Design tied together the pale whites, ivories, deep golds with the pops of black and deep wines.
Overall, we aimed for subtle inspirations that could be perfect for the bare winter feel as well as the more organic, unabashedly wild and organic. High waisted full volume skirt was hand crafted by Jessica Maida and played off the dramatic theme we hoped to create while staying true to the underlying organic and DIY tones.
