Clarissa and Leah met back in High School but never really connected until after graduating. We love how Clarissa surprised Leah in Aruba with what she thought was a photoshoot that quickly turned into a proposal. Leah was totally caught off guard and photographer Kenny Theysen was there to capture it all. Thanks for sharing your love story with us Clarissa and Leah and we wish you nothing but the best in planning!

The proposal:
“I set up a photoshoot with a company out in Aruba, they graciously took this arrangement 2 weeks before we were scheduled to arrive. It was a bit eerie because I never met him, he wanted to pick us up from our resort, and wanted to be paid in cash so it was do or die literally haha. So we get there and its the absolute wrong location but she has no clue so I just go with it. In the back of my mind though I’m panicking because the agreement was I needed to be able to write ‘Will you marry me’ in the sand. Leah is loving it though, we arrive to the Lighthouse location and grab some amazing photos. While she’s taking her pictures I’m running around the island frantically trying to set up the perfect way to display my love for her IN THE ROCKS lol. Thankfully Kenny is a native to the island and knows t he perfect spot. He leads us to Arashi beach where the sand is smooth, white, and the water is crystal blue resembling the color of her diamond. My nerves instantly settled and felt like I was born for that moment. There were elderly ladies sunbathing along the beach following us with and soaking in the moment with us. It was amazing. Leah was a natural, it was all natural even the photographer agreed this was the easiest shoot he’s ever had to do in his years of photography. Finally we walked along the sand and I lead her to where I had snuck away to write the big question in the sand. When we walked up to it she said, “Oh look babe, someone wrote that for somebody in the sand. Isn’t that sweet?” By this time I’m already on one knee with the ring out. She gasps and the elderly women on the beach yelped and she said, YES!!! My hands were shaking trying to put on that ring and it felt so good to BREATHE hahaha.” – Clarissa
What did you do on your first date?
Met up at Ra Sushi around 11 and talked until they kicked us out.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
There are too many to name, but the TOP would have to be travel.
How has wedding planning been so far?
We are both workaholics but we have been discussing and researching locations for a while now. We are slowly getting my family involved and our friends prepped for the destination wedding.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day.
Setting that moment in time, in the stars, and celebrating with our loved ones.
Vendors: All thanks goes to Kenny Theysen of Timeless-Pixx in Aruba. Friendly guy and fantastic photographer!
