Sometimes when you “lose” a bet you actually win. For Brittnee and Quincy this couldn’t be more true. Their award took the form of a wonderful loving partner found in each other, and the gains will continue to last the rest of their lives.
Having first met as classmates in 2005 at Texas Southern University their first date arose from Brittnee’s need to pass her final exam. Quincy made a bet with Brittnee that if she borrowed his notes for the exam and passed, she would have to go on a date with him. Not only did she pass but passed with an A.
It was at PF Changs that Quincy collected his reward, a night full of good food, greater conversation and lots of laughs. Brittnee would come to realize that Quincy wasn’t the only person winning that evening…

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal: We met at Texas Southern University in 2005. We took a couple of courses together and spoke to each other frequently. During one class I needed Quincy’s notes to pass a final exam. He bet me if I use his notes and pass the exam, then I would have to go on a date with him. I made an A on that exam.
Every year Quincy’s family does Secret Santa where they pull names and secretly buy gifts for that one person. This particular year I received everything on my wish list from my Secret Santa. After all the gifts are dispersed you reveal who is whose Secret Santa. During that revealing Quincy had one more gift to give and it was very unexpected. Of course I’ve always wanted a ring but I’ve never put it on the list. His last gift was a beautiful ring and him asking me to become one with him.
What did you do on your first date? After I lost the bet he took me to PF Changs on our first date. We talked and laughed the whole time. I love to eat and drink. Going out to eat is still one of our favorite things to do. We also love watching movies. We like going to the movies but if we can find a good one on Netflix, and have take out, it is the best feeling ever.
Describe your engagement session: The engagement was a fun filled day. We wanted to include our son and show our playfulness, so we decided to do a pillow fight. We bought down pillows, played around, and let Daniel do his magic. After the pillow fight we drove to Galveston for the sunset and pier lights. We camp out on the beach with our friends quite often so I created a more romantic setup for us to take pictures. That created a gorgeous natural backdrop for our more intimate pictures.
How has wedding planning been so far? Wedding planning so far has been great with the help of our planner Darrell Colone. He has helped me bring my visions to life. It has been an exciting journey. I cannot wait until the day.
What are you looking forward to most on your wedding day? I am looking forward to our family and friends celebrating with us on the dance floor. I’ve always wanted one of those movie-wedding scenes where we all are dancing at once and having a good time; like The Best Man.
