“Falling in love…” In love we always “fall”…never is it “running” in love, or “skipping,” or “climbing.” For falling is something catching us off guard, becoming unbalanced, followed by a quick descent – and this is love. It can affect the stability of your world, knock you off your feet, and send you into someone’s arms – and if it is “meant to be” they will catch you.
In this sentimental engagement session perfectly captured by MunaLuchi Coterie member Shagari Jackson of Mosaic by MG, it is clear that Krystle and Akino have caught each other.
Read all about Krysle & Akino’s love story and romantic proposal in this sentimental engagement session that recaptures the moments in which they first fell in love.

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal? Take it from us, one can find love online. The truth is we met on facebook through a mutual friend’s suggestion. Akino sent an email because in my profile picture I was wearing a New Orleans Saints jersey. Akino’s favorite NFL team is the Saints, so the jersey sparked his interest. He said to himself, “Not only is she gorgeous, but she must know a thing or two about football” A winner right? Truth is…his bride-to-be knows nothing about football! I happened to purchase a cute jersey to go to a game a friend invited me to. But I am willing to learn over the lifetime we will share together!
Akino’s email said, “Hello, no disrespect but you are Gorgeous, I would like to get to know you. Of course I gave him the third degree about why he would want to get to know someone he doesn’t even know, based on a profile pic. He replied, “because I think you’re gorgeous.” Little did I know then, the saints jersey may have had something to do with it.
The Proposal:
Akino is quite the traditional man. On three weeks leading up to our proposal he sent me chocolate covered strawberries from Edible Arrangements to my job because I was having a tough day at work. That evening he went to my parents house and asked my Dad for his blessing to marry me. Three weeks later on July 30, 2016 he planned a surprise engagement dinner in New Orleans at Bourbon House which is the same restaurant we dined at for our first anniversary. He had arranged for my parents, my sister, and close friends to all come for the celebration. He had collaborated with my cousin to invite me down to New Orleans for a double date over the weekend. I had no clue that it was a set up.
Did you have a theme? Our photos did not have a theme but instead displays our love story. As a couple, we decided we wanted our engagement photos to recapture the moments and scenes which lead up to us falling in love. We focused on what our attraction was to one another. Initially Akino’s attraction to his bride-to-be was her wearing a New Orleans Saints jersey. Another photo scene is our first kiss underneath an umbrella. I fell in love with his gentlemen-like ways on our first date. We also wanted to incorporate some of the historical/monumental scenes that have significant architectural history (Greek/roman catholic/french).
What did you do on your first date? We had dinner at Parrian’s Seafood on a Sunday at 4pm, it was raining cats & dogs, followed by a movie in which he walked me over to my car under his umbrella before parting ways. We shared our first kiss underneath the umbrella in the rain! He then opened my car door. His gentleman country boy mannerism is what I fell in love with.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple? Our favorite thing to do as a couple is quite simple. We love to spend weekends together having breakfast in bed, which is his speciality. On a more exciting note, we also love to get away for the weekend and explore new travel destinations.
How has wedding planning been so far? Wedding planning has been challenging but exciting! I’m very creative and hands on so I do not have a planner because I usually like to be in charge of everything. I have a vision of exactly what we want on our big day!
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day. I’m looking forward to seeing the expression on my groom’s face as I walk toward the man I plan on spending the rest of my life with. And I’m praying I don’t mess up my makeup with my tears of joys.
The groom is looking forward to our union together as we make a commitment to God in front of our family and friends, and of course the honeymoon, lol!
