“Nefertiti, Amenhotep II, Cleopatra, Osei Kofi Tutu…Kings and Queens who ruled, shaped and defended the motherland, Africa.
I’ve always had a passion for bold colors, grandiose design and the spirit of these African royals who dominated chapters in my books and my own imagination.
When I was given an opportunity to create a styled shoot from my own inspirations, I jumped at the notion to celebrate one of my hidden obsessions. “African Royalty” was inspired from a love of all things color, culture and allure.
Bold colors, a breathtaking couple, unique florals and striking beauty were a must in order to bring this concept to life. Pinks, purples, deep greens and golds were the foundation followed by opulent floral pieces surrounding the tablescape and closing with a high standing cake enveloped by jewels, it was truly a story of elegance. African influences were blended through traditional food, fashion and other exquisite details reminiscent of the beauty these Kings and Queens commanded.
I wanted to take a moment to celebrate the spirit of Africa in design, give an appreciation to ancestors and provide a glimpse into what my imagination viewed would be a celebration these royals would be proud to attend!”
