Ten years and two loving sons later, Shawntaye and Ronald’s love remains as strong as ever.

Having met 13 years ago at a party, Shawntaye reminisces about that life-changing evening, “My best friend told me that I needed to get out of the house because I was going through a bad break up. She insisted we go to Webster Hall. I was excited because I was finally going to a 21 and older party. Once we get inside of the party, my friend leaves me and I’m all alone. I locked eyes with Ron while we are both staring at this woman who was dancing rather awkward. We both started laughing and he walked over and started dancing with me. We laughed and danced all night. …I hesitated to give him the real number or my real name. I guess I wasn’t ready to move on from my ex-boyfriend. I slipped and told him a fake name, and we exchanged numbers, and I talked about him the whole way home… When he called, I thought I should give him a chance. I gave him my real name and our future together began.”

It would be two years later that Ronald would propose in front of the Ritz Carlton hotel in Miami, Florida by the fountain. “He said he was so nervous and couldn’t last until the restaurant,” Shawntaye fondly remembers, “he told me that I deserved to be loved and deserved to have the family I always dreamed of. He said he was going to be everything I ever asked God for. He promised to take me on every childhood adventure I always dreamed of discovering. He said he was not only going to be my husband but my family. I knew he was the one because he believed in all of my dreams and didn’t judge me on how different my life had been from his.”

Their Harlem Renaissance themed vow-renewal wedding was expertly designed and an absolute style success. Everything from the florals to the cake, the stationary to the table markers, linens and chair covers – was all executed with the utmost attention to detail. The ivory and gold color themes, glitz and glamour, fashion flair, and art deco geometry with its bold cubist influences all made for an unforgettable event. Shawntaye was stunning in a mermaid dress with sweetheart neckline, accented with lace and pearls in reference of the Harlem Renaissance theme.

Within the courtyard of the Rivera Brooklyn the stylish couple renewed their vows before friends and family. The newlyweds took the dance floor to “Before I let you go” by Maze featuring Frankie Beverly. One of Shawntaye’s most memorable moments includes, “the reenactment of the ‘House Party” movie dance-off between our bridal party.” The advice she has for engaged couples is to “enjoy every moment, as the day goes by so quickly and don’t sweat the small stuff.”

Memories: “The best memory from the wedding was how my deceased mother was incorporated into our day. There was a huge framed portrait of my mother at the wedding ceremony, and at the reception she was placed right next to our table. When I saw her picture in the room, I felt her presence, that overwhelming feeling that haunted me the entire day had disappeared instantly because I knew she was with us. The band played my mother’s favorite song which gathered my siblings and I on the dance floor for a special moment with our special lady who left us to be with the Lord.”

Advice: “The best advice I can give engaged couples is to have the wedding of your dreams it is a lifetime memory that you will never forget. Those memories will be exciting for you, your spouse, family members, and friends for many years to come. If you consider hiring a wedding planner go for the one that understands your vision and promises to give you a wedding day that will forever be perfect in your eyes and make you shed a tear each time you think of that day.”
