Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. We met online and instantly connected. Neither of us truly believed in love at first sight but we both definitely felt a spark right away. We dated for a few years before Richard proposed. We were celebrating my birthday in Barbados and went out to dinner at our favorite restaurant, Champers. Richard had organize the whole thing with the hostess and the waitress. At about sunset they brought out our dessert. I was expected something because it was my birthday but when they put the plate down and I read the message, I was a bit confused as it didn’t say happy birthday but “will you marry me?” Then, he got on one knee and ask for my hand in marriage. I cried and said yes.
What was wedding shopping like for you? The dress I originally wanted didn’t fit me as I would have hoped but because I’m quite laid back I tried many different styles of dress. I found a dress I loved at the second dress shop I went too, Bliss Bridal Boutique. It fit like a glove and needed no alterations. It was an elegant sweetheart lace dress.
Favorite item on the menu: Beef ribs from our favorite restaurant, Chatterpauls in Whitby.
First dance song: A mix of “Fall For You” and “All Over Again” by Leela James
What is your best memory from your wedding? Our best memory was our first look. We met at a secluded area of the gardens to see each other. It was a magical moment seeing our future standing right in front of us. Another great memory was when my eight year old daughter got up and sang “True Colors” from the movie Trolls. It was a complete surprise and her courage made us so proud.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples?
