Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. My fiancé, Steven and I formally met in 2012 while working for the same government agency. Although we had seen each other around the office prior to that, it wasn’t until we were assigned as cubicle neighbors that we had the opportunity to get to know each other. From months of in-office talk, we discovered that we had a lot in common, and it was also very obvious that there was amazing chemistry. Going to work every day suddenly became exciting as we grew closer. What could have been an awkward situation quickly blossomed into a beautiful office romance. We dated for a while then decided to take a break. It was that break that cemented what we both knew; we were absolutely destined to be together. We got back together and have not looked back since.
Steven proposed to me during an intimate dinner with my family, just days before my 33rd birthday. He invited my family over for dinner that he prepared. Right before we were set to eat, he sent my daughter in with the ring box as he followed behind her. As I wrapped my mind around what was happening, he was on one knee asking me to spend the rest of my life with him. I, of course, said yes as this was the moment we had talked about for so long. We ate, drank and danced the night away from the thrill of the engagement.
Describe your engagement session. Our wedding theme was used for inspiration of the engagement session. Our wedding theme is classic, timeless, romantic, and elegant. We wanted that theme to be consistent throughout our engagement, including our engagement photography session. There was no better venue than the Swan House to truly capture that inspiration for our engagement session.
What did you do on your first date? Our first date occurred in August 2012 while my family was hosting a family reunion in Atlanta. As the family events for the evening began to taper off, I met Steven outside of our hotel where we went to grab a bite to eat. We laughed and talked for hours, which seemed like merely minutes to us. Just being in the company of each other was so refreshing. We both smiled the entire night as we talked until the restaurant closed. That night was magical as it solidified the love we were both feeling.
How has wedding planning been so far? Planning has been fun yet stressful. I have an amazing wedding planner that is helping me through the process.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day. We are most looking forward to making it official under God and in front of our family and friends. The thought of Steven and I getting married is like the most beautiful dream come true. We both knew this moment would come, but now that it is upon us, we couldn’t be more thrilled to spend the rest of our days together as husband and wife.
