Sh’Kia and Daniel’s love story began on the campus of Florida Atlantic University where Sh’Kia was at the time a freshman. Daniel was on campus doing a favor for a friend. As fate would have it, the friend was not available and Sh’Kia took their place as an intermediary. Daniel was immediately enamored and asked her out on a date. Not yet ready for a relationship, they remained friends for four years, building a foundation of love and trust on which to build the relationship they have today.

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal: We met on the campus of Florida Atlantic University when Sh’Kia was a freshman back in 2009. I wasn’t enrolled there but I went by the University to bring something for a friend who wasn’t available to meet. Sh’Kia was the intermediary chosen to meet me that day. Very shy and timid, Sh’Kia didn’t have much to say, but I thought she was beautiful and mysterious, so I asked her out anyway. We attended a movie that night but decided to be friends as Sh’Kia was not ready to embark on a new relationship. We remained friends for 4 years before finally deciding to make it official in 2013. Since then, we have progressively moved forward in building and encouraging each other to be the best we could be (for ourselves and each other). And now in 2018, we’ve made a conscious decision to be together for a lifetime.
Describe your engagement session. Although we did not have a theme per se, we wanted to go with everything regal and upscale. It’s not every day you get to dress up and pose for fun, so we wanted to look like royalty.
What did you do on your first date? Movie Theaters, Slumdog Millionaire!
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple? Going to the gym, finding new restaurants, making homemade Sangrias, watching and creating tv/film productions.
How has wedding planning been so far? It’s been a steady process and with the help of family and friends and their resources, it’s taken a great deal of weight off of our shoulders.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day? A day of positive and loving energy. With so much going on in the world today, it’s not every day that we experience pure bliss. A marriage ceremony is one of the most beautiful traditions of all time. The energy in the air will be a new height in our union. It’s very powerful in knowing we’ll be taking our relationship to the next level for the better. Oh yea, we’re very excited about the food too!
