Everyday that we are blessed to awaken can be the day that will change the rest of our lives. For Nicole, the day she met her future husband at work was started like any other day, but forever changed her fate. Their love has carried them through life’s ups and downs together. Always together, loving, building, and growing as one well before they ever cemented that bond in marriage. Tra’Quez has not stopped doing all he can to fulfill the sacred space that she reserved for him. Nicole never ceased being the beautiful soul he needed to hold when the world was cold. They are the image of “You had me at hello,” and the world is a better place for it…

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. We officially met at Life University while I was interning and Tra’Quez was a patient of mine.
The proposal occurred on a family cruise we took to Bermuda with my family. It was the last night of the cruise and they were doing the “Love and Marriage Show.” They needed four couples to play so they picked the couple that had been married the longest and the shortest, then there were two spots left for anyone to try out for. The cruise director asked for whoever else wanted to play to stand up and do something crazy so Tra’Quez stands up and he is jumping up and down like a maniac, and the cruise director points to him and says, “You, come on up and play!” Tra’Quez runs on stage and I’m sitting there shaking my head because we aren’t married but my mom nudges me to go on stage so I did. Once I got on stage, Tra’Quez grabs my hand and proceeds to drop down on one knee and he proposes in front of 1000s of people. It was very romantic. I said “YES” and the crowd went crazy!
How did you know they were “the one?” Nicole: “I knew Tra’Quez was “the one” when I couldn’t imagine my life without him in it. He has been by my side for the happiest days of my life to the lowest days and has been such a great support!”
Tra’Quez: “I knew I wanted to marry Nicole when I noticed how beautiful a person she was and how she treated me. I knew from the first day I saw her.”
What was wedding shopping like for you? Wedding dress shopping was an experience, I tried on over 50 dresses and everytime I would keep coming back to the one that eventually became my wedding dress. My shoes were my ‘”something blue” from Badgley Mischka.
What is your best memory from your wedding? Having my beautiful mom walk me down the aisle, and saying “I do” to my husband.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? While engaged, it’s so easy to get caught up in planning so don’t forget to enjoy each other during that season. Be sure to plan for the marriage and not just the wedding day.
