Beverley and Jeff first became aware of each other in passing on the campus of South Florida University. Communicating casually from time to time, it wasn’t until Beverley was too sick to come to school that they regularly began to talk; reaching out to Jeff on Facebook, he was able to cover printing out a much needed assignment for her. During that summer break Jeff realized in his heart that he was destined to be with Beverley. Getting to know each other over late night phone conversations, they realized more and more how much in common they had. As the new semester began and they both returned to campus, it wouldn’t be long before they made their love official…

How did you meet? It started with the promise of Haitian food at the University of South Florida (GO BULLS!) Kappa Hall (dormitory). I was leaving Kappa Hall headed to Orlando for the weekend. Jeff was sitting outside in the common area with his friend. For some reason he knew I was Haitian and said something to me in Creole, which got my attention. I looked back and he asked me where I was going. I told him back home and somehow he persuaded me to bring him back Haitian food, which I later did but he never came to get.
Fast forward a few months, I never saw Jeff until one random day I was really sick and I needed an assignment printed from the lab. I was able to find Jeff on Facebook and I sent him a friend request. Jeff was able to print out my assignment, and from then on we would chat from time to time. During the Summer of 2008, we both went back home, but still remained in contact. Jeff worked at Burger King during that summer and would call me almost every night after he got off work around 2AM waking me from my sleep. For whatever reason, upset and all, I would wake up and we would talk and/or text. Unbeknownst to me, while working at Burger King, he told one of his best friends Vladimir that one day he would make me his girlfriend. My aunt even hinted that Jeff liked me, but at that time I did not think that was the case. On one random summer night, Jeff called me and asked me out. For my own personal reasons, I declined his request, which he respected and understood (there’s a happy ending I promise).
As the new school year approached, I was nervous about seeing Jeff after the break. It made no sense because I only saw him as a friend. Well…somewhere along the way of him only being a friend, he slowly but surely became more than a friend, and we officially started our relationship on October 28, 2008.
Tell us your proposal story. Jeff proposed on his birthday April 15, 2017. Jeff planned a beach day followed by dinner to the best of my knowledge. We went to Treasure Island beach earlier that morning with friends and left early to go to dinner at a restaurant in St. Pete. During dinner, Jeff goes to the bathroom and doesn’t return. A little while later, our waitress comes to the table and hands me a note saying the bill has been paid and my ride is waiting for me outside. My cousin comes to pick me up and takes me to a park. He hands me an envelope and said, “Don’t open it until 10 minutes into the ride.” Once I got out the vehicle, I see there is a Cinderella horse and carriage waiting for me. The carriage ride takes me around Vinoy Park along the waterway. During the ride, I opened the envelope and saw that it contained a love letter from Jeff. At this point my eyes swelled up with tears, and I definitely knew where the night was headed. The driver of the carriage took me around this park where Jeff and I took our anniversary pictures, and to my surprise Jeff was right there waiting for me curbside in a fitted blue suit. He leads me under the pergola, drops to one knee and asks me to be his wife!
Describe your engagement session. We truly wanted our engagement session to reflect ourselves as individuals and as a couple. We are certified homebodies and wanted to give a sneak peak into our daily life. We also wanted to show the glam side of the future Mr. and Mrs. Andre when we step out. Overall we wanted a timeless, but comfortable feel.
What did you do on your first date? We go back and forth with this all the time. Jeff invited me to the movies, but I decided to bring my friend with me because I was nervous! So our first date was really between Jeff, my friend and myself!
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple? We love to travel and try out new restaurants. We are certified foodies and look forward to our next favorite eatery.
