Doretha and Ryan’s love story began at a brunch where Doretha accidentally backed up on Ryan’s foot. It was destiny in the making as a conversation began that would continue all the way to their first date a week later. Over dinner they had “many laughs…and great conversation,” and from that moment on that Doretha felt she had found “the one.”

Bride & Groom: Doretha & Ryan
Wedding Date: August 11th 2018
Wedding Location: Philadelphia
Wedding Venue: Vie by Cescaphe
Tell us how you met. Ryan & Doretha met at “Gas Light” where a day brunch was being held. Doretha was talking to a friend and accidentally backed into Ryan. Ryan had a sarcastic comment which Doretha thought was witty and made her laugh.
They exchanged numbers and their first date was a week later at Barclay Prime in Philadelphia. They spent the entire summer together getting to know each other and their families and close friends.
How did you know they were “the one”? Doretha: “For me it was our first date at the restaurant Barclay Prime. We had so many laughs and a great conversation. We continued the date by watching a movie and sealed the night with a couple of kisses. From that point on I couldn’t stop thinking about him.”
Ryan: “I was told by my aunt that when you find that one special person it will hit you like a ton of bricks. I didn’t believe what she said but when I met Ree I felt exactly what she said.”
What was wedding shopping like for you? Wedding dress shopping was exciting and stressful. I didn’t know that when you go these bridal shops the sample dresses are a size 4. I have curves but luckily I was able to fit most of the them. The one thing that is frustrating that you cant take pictures of yourself in the dress to refer back to. So you can really go back and think of the different dresses you tried on. Philly Bride dress shop was my fourth shop that I went to and the very last dress I tried on was the Martina Liana. I fell in love! The lace, and how it hugged my body.. Her dress are absolutely perfect.
Wedding Party gifts: Ryan gave his groomsman a Money clip, tie clip, and cuff links. I gave my girls a necklace and lace Robes
Favorite item on the menu: Salmon Oscar with Risotto
First dance song: Marvin Gaye & Tammy Terrell – Your all I need to get by
What is your best memory from your wedding? The best memory was my standing at the alter and facing my future husband shows the inside of his tuxedo jacket. He surprised me with 6 of my favorite pictures of us. I was a show stopper. He is so thoughtful. He definitely set a trend for every upcoming groom.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? The wedding process can get stressful but just keep in the mind this day is about you two, and don’t try to please other people.
