Rustic yet glamorous, rural yet chic, this inspiring romantic styled shoot set on an equestrian farm in historic Pennsylvania combines two design concepts into a singular, consistent vision. Utilizing elements of elegance in a country setting, we are met with an event that allows us to enjoy the finer touch within a natural backdrop. Read all about the details of this “Earth, Wind and Romance” rustic glam styled shoot below – featuring planning & design by MunaLuchi Coterie member SoLi Events, and florals by MunaLuchi Coterie member ARJ Signature Design & Event Planning.
We did this styled shoot on a farm in beautiful Kennett Square, PA, July of 2018. I loved Breakthough Equestrian, because of all of the open fields and natural back drop – the horses were a bonus! On the day of the shoot, it rained heavily all day, so using the fields with horses were not an option as we originally expected. However, we were able to shoot in the barn, and although we were confined to one place, we were able to still execute our vision.
With this concept, I wanted to do something different. When people hear “rustic wedding” they think about, burlap, twine, and wood everywhere. What I wanted to do is add glam to it. Rustic doesn’t necessarily mean that a couple has to do the stereotypical rustic wedding decor. Why not pair fancy chairs with a farm table or add chiffon to the design? Mixing those rougher elements with softer pieces or pieces that are usually thought to be for glamorous weddings, is definitely “in” for 2019.
I reached out to Abhi Sarkar, a photographer that I worked with before, to create something amazing. When reaching out to different vendors, I really had to think about who was going to bring all of my ideas to life. I had to think about vendors who would be able to step outside of the box if I gave them creative freedom. The first place that I looked is Munaluchi Coterie and a florist, Al-Nisa Reid immediately reached out. The best part, is that I was admiring her work before I even knew it was HER work. She was perfect. She doesn’t create the traditional bouquet; her work is art. For the table and chairs, the best place for me to look was Vision Furniture in Philadelphia, PA. Their inventory is always current and they are constantly adding beautiful pieces. Melissa of Cupcake Graphics was the first person I thought of when I needed stationery. Her work ranges from simple to over the top glam so I knew that I could give her anything and she’d create magic. The ceremony props were from Nourish Juice Bar. The attire from Chadmoore Tux and The bridal Manor were exactly what we were looking for. I needed to bring that upscale dapper and beauty to the set. With our stylist Ali on board, I knew they were in good hands. Lily and Becca of Cake Life Bake shop provided us with a stellar cake that complimented the set so well! I love what they stand for as a bakery; inclusivity and love. They are also the bakery that provided Beyonce’ with her cake and pastries for her current tour, so we felt so honored! I had Tiffany on makeup and Kasia on hair and makeup. I was able to give them different looks and they replicated each with their own flare. To finish off the set, our models were selected. I love to see diversity, whether it is shape, size, height or ethnicity. I wanted to represent two different brides, as they are the usual focus in the bridal party. Although it rained all day which hindered a lot of what we wanted to do, the day was productive we’re in love with the final product!
