Katrese and DeAnthony swiped right into each other’s heart on a popular dating app.
Realizing they only lived five minutes apart, their first date was a cute ice cream get-together where they, in Katrese’s words, “ended up talking for two hours and closing down the ice cream parlor.” It soon became apparent that the connection they shared was more than words could describe, and so began their journey towards together forever…

How did you meet? We both swiped right, and it was a match on Bumble. It turns out we lived five minutes from each other, and are so grateful the dating app connected us.
Tell us your proposal story. To throw Katrese off, DeAnthony invited her over for a relaxing night of movies, and Chicago favorite, Harold’s Chicken. When she arrived, she found that she was the star of the show. An aisle of candles met her at the door with DeAnthony standing there in a tuxedo holding a rose-shaped ring box, a la ABC’s the Bachelor. A picture slideshow was playing in the background with moments of the couple’s relationship accompanied by a romantic playlist. Katrese, the fashionista, was caught off guard in her sneakers and fried chicken, and had to be told to “put the chicken down.” After saying yes, the two slow danced, toasted and enjoyed their private moment together.
Describe your engagement session. We fell in love in beautiful Chicago. We wanted to capture the beauty of the city and emphasize our city-chic couple style.
What did you do on your first date? We met for ice cream. It was low key, and non-commital just in case either party wanted to escape the date. We ended up talking for two-hours and closing down the ice cream parlor.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple? We are total foodies in a foodie city. We love trying new restaurants and writing food reviews.
How has wedding planning been so far? We are just getting started. So far, we have enjoyed creating and designing a day that represents our style and couple personality.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day. We are most looking forward to celebrating our love with our closest family and friends.
