After communicating on social media for months, Shantay and Cordorow came to realize that not only did they live in the same city, but also on the same street.
Upon realizing this, each walked outside onto their porch, seeing the other just a few houses away. Walking towards each other, they officially met in the middle of their street – where their love story truly began and they’ve never looked back. Shantay and Cordorow were pronounced husband and wife in a beautiful garden wedding in Somerset Park, New Jersey. Read all about their wedding experiences – featuring the work of numerous MunaLuchi Coterie members, including, photography by Linda McQueen of 456 Weddings, planning by Just Dream Weddings & Events, florals by the Ritz Walton Collection, and videography by Luxor Wedding Films.
Bride & Groom: Shantay & Cordorow
Wedding Date: 09/13/2019
Wedding Location: Somerset Park, New Jersey
Tell us about how you met and all about the proposal. On MySpace after talking for months Cordorow asked me where I was from and I said Newark. To which he replied that he was also from Newark. We then realized we lived on the same street and walked to the middle of the street to meet each other.
For the proposal, Cordorow said, “let’s go to the mall.” He wanted to go pick up some things. Then we passed Kay’s Jewelry store and he said let’s go inside. The whole time he had the ring already in his pocket. So as I was looking at rings, he was on his knee asking me to marry him.
Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding? Yes, we tied the three strands. We wanted to bind our relationship with God to always remember that through the good and tough times, God always has our backs.
Describe your wedding dress and your favorite wedding accessory. The wedding dress was a mermaid fit, with a train, and bling throughout. I loved the way it fit. It made me feel as if I had curves.

What is your best memory from your wedding? The decor. I was so focused on the decor, I wanted it perfect. I must have contacted Elle a million times to change the decor or add something in. I wanted my section to stand out and Elle did just that. To have my family and friends say how beautiful my wedding was, was everything to me. Not to mention when I finally got to see how handsome my husband looked – speechless!
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? Hire a planner. Let me tell you. There were a lot of things going on behind the scenes and I had no clue. My planner strictly directed all problems or questions to go to her and not me or my husband. Literally the day of the wedding. I just showed up and when my bridesmaids were telling me the family drama behind scenes, I was like, wait, so who handled it? They all said, Elle.
