Bride & Groom-to-be: Kimberly & Jerome

Wedding Date: 6/13/2020
Wedding Location: Vicksburg, Mississippi
Engagement Session Location: Civil Rights Museum in Jackson, Mississippi
How did you meet? Jerome and I met in April 2017, in Kroger, on the meat aisle. According to Jerome’s sister, he had been following me around the store for about 45 minutes, saying how beautiful I was, and that I was going to be his wife. Since Jerome is super shy, she had to beg and plead that he walk over to me and introduce himself. He did just that, and the rest is history.
Tell us your proposal story. Jerome and I went to my mother’s house for Easter, since that is when my entire family normally get together. Unbeknownst to me, Jerome and my sister were planning my proposal. They contacted my closest friends to come out to our family “bar-b-que”. I was grabbing meat off the grill as I normally do, cause a girl loves to eat and heard my name being called from the DJ booth. I walked over to our favorite song, “Can’t Let Go” by Calvin Richardson. He hopped down on one knee and professed his love for me and asked for my hand in marriage.
Describe your engagement session. Our photographer, Coriss Watson, decided to shoot the session at the Civil Rights Museum. We thought this was fitting as there is so much rich history at this particular museum. Also, the sunsets beautifully in this area. It rained during our session, but our photographer made the best of it.
What did you do on your first date? We met at a Mexican restaurant, that has live music. Because Jerome is a musician and plays the guitar during his spare time, he was able to pull out his instrument and play along with the band. It was the best date ever as we danced the night away until 2:00 am.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple? Jerome and I are both competitive, so we love to compete in Pac Man on the weekends. The loser has to treat the other to Starbucks.
How has wedding planning been so far? It has not been very stressful at all. Jerome and I have had some really great conversations at the beginning of the process. We made our decisions and decided we were going to stick with our plans and budget no matter what. We are just grateful to have one another.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day. Of course, I look forward to marrying my best friend! I am pretty stoked about seeing my girls. It has been quite a while since I have seen some of them, and I am really looking forward to it! The most influential women in my life will finally have an opportunity to meet.
