When it comes to love, some say when you find the right one, you’ll know right away. From the time they had their first date at a local Savannah restaurant back in 2004, Carl knew Antia was the one for him. They dated for many years before he finally popped the question. “On our first date, Carl said to me “You’re my girl” and the rest is “Our”story! Yep, all these years, and he never even officially asked me to be his girlfriend. Lol,” says Antia. But when Carl did propose to Antia, it was perfect. “I was in tears. The fact that he thought to include Darielle made it even more special,” recalls Antia.
For their engagement session, they ventured outdoors in various locations in Savannah, Georgia for some laid back, fun photos. Their wedding is also taking place in Savannah, Georgia, and they plan to move forward despite the COVID pandemic. “We do not plan to reschedule our wedding date. Even if it’s just me and him on our wedding day.” Thanks for sharing your story and photos with us Antia and Carl. Scroll down to read their love story.

The proposal story
I was home cleaning the kitchen in my PJs when Carl came in from work. He ran straight upstairs, which at that time I wasn’t paying what was going on any mind. Next thing I know, my daughter, Darielle comes downstairs and says “Mommy, Mr. Carl wants to know if you will marry him”. She then places the ring in my hand and runs back upstairs to her room to attend to her guest who was sleeping over that night. As long as she had someone over to play with, she didn’t care what was going on. Lol. As I was standing there looking crazy, confused, and shaking (my nerves) while staring down at the ring, Carl came downstairs, took a knee, and asked if I would marry him. Of course, I said yes! I was in tears. The fact that he thought to include Darielle made it even more special.
Describe your engagement session. Did you have a theme?
We had a fun 5 hours of photos sessions throughout downtown Savannah. We didn’t necessarily have a theme but knew we wanted to show one of Georgia’s most beautiful cities (Savannah). Our photographer, Daunte Frazier knew of some hidden areas and we just followed his lead.
What did you do on your first date?
Our first date was back in 2004 at a local restaurant in Savannah. On our first date, Carl said to me “You’re my girl” and the rest is “Our”story! Yep, all these years, and he never even officially asked me to be his girlfriend. Lol
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
We are foodies! Savannah has a gazillion restaurants to try. We love going out and trying new cuisines around town.
How has wedding planning been so far?
It’s been a challenge due to COVID-19. Luckily, we were already planning a small intimate wedding with just close friends and family. We do not plan to reschedule our wedding date. Even if it’s just me and him on our wedding day.
What are you looking forward to most on the wedding day?
I’m looking forward to finally becoming Mrs. Mumford. It’s been a long time coming for us. We dated for 6 years and separated for eights years and now we’re planning a lifetime together. During our six years of dating previously, we were engaged twice before. Carl has proposed to me three times, with three different rings.
