From the second Kameron saw Shantel in their class at Virginia Commonwealth University, he knew she was the one.
Kameron shares, “I walked into accounting class at VCU and saw Shantel sitting there by herself and I thought she was gorgeous. I was nervous initially, but at the start of our second class I sat right next to her, introduced myself, and I’ve been by her side (annoying her) ever since.”
Eventually, these college sweethearts would make their relationship “Facebook” official and five years later, Kameron proposed.
They are looking forward to getting married next fall, but in the meantime, they took some romantic engagement photos to celebrate. See their romantic “enchanted forest” themed engagement session below.

How did you meet?
I (Kam) walked into accounting class at VCU and saw Shantel sitting there by herself and I thought she was gorgeous. I was nervous initially, but at the start of our second class I sat right next to her, introduced myself, and I’ve been by her side (annoying her) ever since.
Tell us your proposal story.
On December 15th, 2014 I took her to Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. There we found ourselves in a tunnel of Christmas lights where I proceeded to pull out my phone, get down on one knee, and ask her to make our relationship Facebook official. 5 years later on that same exact day, I took her back to that same tunnel of lights and proposed. Thankfully she said yes both times!
When did you know he/she was “the one”?
Ever since we first met we realized that we had so many things in common. From our eclectic taste in music to our extremely similar sense of humor and so many things in between. We both realized pretty quickly that we couldn’t imagine life without each other.
Describe your engagement session.
Our session was AWESOME! Our photographer suggested the location and it was absolutely beautiful! She did an amazing job directing us on poses and was super easy to work with! She made us feel totally comfortable, and I think that really comes through in the pictures she captured.
Did you have a theme?
Our theme for the wedding is “Enchanted Forest” so we wanted to take our pics in an outside area with lots of greenery. Our photographer provided us with a stunning spot!
What did you do on your first date?
Although we never officially called it a “date,” the first time we hung out we went to the river (Belle Isle), hung out on the rocks and talked for a few hours, then went to a local Mexican restaurant for dinner.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
We love to plan trips and travel to new places to create lasting memories together. Whether that be a drive to a new state or a flight to a new country, traveling together is our thing! Some of our favorite destinations are Grand Cayman, Charleston, and Washington DC.
How has wedding planning been so far?
Thus far things have been pretty smooth. Seeing as we are planning a year in advance, we are able to take our time and knock things out very methodically.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day.
We both are very excited to see all of our friends and family come together and we can’t wait to see everyone enjoying themselves and celebrating with us! We are ready to party!
