Engagement session theme…
In order to capture their vision of combining Veaysha’s California bohemian style and Pierre’s French countryside heritage, they chose to shoot their engagement session at an unconventional place: the historic Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta.
When they walked through the cemetery on the day of the shoot, they were “mesmerized by the blooming Chaenomeles flower bushes and hundreds of other plants and trees in the Oakland garden.”
Working with the talented photographer, Rachael Horton, the pair chose a specific area within the cemetary to capture the “true essence of [the] historic site and who [they] are as a couple.”
Veaysha writes: “We couldn’t ask for a better person than Rachael to capture these special moments. She executed the vision of our engagement session beautifully!”
How they met…
Pierre and Veaysha describe their relationship in one word: “Unconventional.” Their love story began 7 years ago on a stormy night in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Veaysha recalls the night vividly: “It was the last night of a girl’s weekend trip and my mother suggested [we] should party the night away at the Revolution nightclub in the Mirage hotel.”
Even though she didn’t feel like partying, Veaysha and the girls took her mom’s advice and headed to the club.
“Everything about that night was surreal,” she says. “First, we caught a flat tire while we were traveling to the nightclub and second it was storming very badly.”
Once they arrived at the Revolution, she decided to let her guard down and dance the night away. Then, out on the dance floor, she felt someone tap her on the shoulder. It was Pierre!
“At the moment, I never imagined that I could feel instantly connected to a stranger. I thought that only happens in romance novels or movies. Even when my feet got tired, he waited next to me until I was ready to dance again. I thought that was the cutest thing ever.”
Following this first spontaneous encounter, the couple reconnected a few days later in Los Angeles. Pierre was staying there for a months vacation and ironically lived only 15 minutes away from Veaysha. And so began their international love-story!
The couple “followed each other from Los Angeles to Paris, Paris to Manchester (UK), Manchester to Los Angeles and finally from Los Angeles to Atlanta.”
The Proposal…
Veaysha and Pierre often compare their proposal story to Carrie Bradshaw’s and Mr. Big’s engagement in “Sex in the City.”
She says, “There were no grand gestures involved. We were two mature adults making a decision to spend our lives with each other.”
During Christmas in the North of France, the couple giddily announced their wedding plans to their family.
Their first date…
The couple’s first date was at a rooftop FigFest concert in Downtown Los Angeles in late July of 2013.
Veaysha says the night was “truly euphoric.” They “rocked to alternative music bands all night long… [and] truly connected with each other through music, art, and food.”
In a romantic moment when Pierre wrapped his arms around her, Veaysha “knew then that there was something magical between [them].”
Favorite thing to do as a couple…
“We are adventurers, so we love traveling and experiencing different cultures together.”
Wedding planning so far…
As many couples experienced this past year, Veaysha and Pierre’s original wedding plans were altered due to COVID.
Initially, they planned a pop-up destination wedding for March 30, 2020 in Dahlonega, Georgia. Veaysha says “we were able to organize our wedding quickly through The Knot website. It’s a lifesaver for every bride and groom. We booked the venue, altered the wedding dress and tuxedo, hired the vendors, and purchased the wedding bands within two-and-a-half months of planning.”
In spite of the whirlwind planning process, they had to postpone their wedding date because of the pandemic. This hasn’t deterred them from celebrating their love or looking forward to their new wedding date!
They “realize [their] love and desire to be together as husband and wife [is] stronger” than ever. They can truly overcome anything!
What they’re looking forward to most…
“We are looking forward to celebrating our union with our friends and family. We didn’t get the opportunity to celebrate with them on March 30, 2020, so it’s going to be extra special next year!”
